A good 4k Freeview Recorder
I recently purchased the Manhattans T4 Freeview Box in order to both move away from paying a subscription for a so called puck which can’t record programmes, the T4 has solved both these points, it was easy to set up and readily linked up with my wi fi hub so as well as free to air services I can also access available internet channels, obviously a big plus is no subscription along with an ability to to record all free to air to programmes. I’ve found the T4 to be fast at responding to channel changes and in my opinion it has a good on screen tv guide. I’m a month into using it now and remain extremely happy with my purchase. The only downside to all this is the drive to cease the broadcasting of free to air services but I understand that this is some years down the line so in the meantime I will continue to benefit from the free to air services.

Buy this.
Bought it last Saturday and my neighbour set it up for me. It takes while to familiarise with all the buttons but it is so much better then my previous Talktalk box, which had a habit of freezing, requiring a restart, and missing parts of programmes due to very slow return of action

Quality
This product may have it's bells and whistles that some people seem to like, but the big let down is the picture quality. It is slightly blurry which spoils the viewing experience, and because of this, I consider it to be poor value for money and would not recommend this product.

Ok if you only want to record programs
Had it about a week now. Firstly it seems a bit flakey. It rebooted itself while using it. Left it on standby last night, came down to find blue light on. Unit wouldn't respond to remote or button on the unit. Had to unplug it to reset it. It can't record time slots, BBC4 often broadcast foreign crime drama on Saturday nights some time between 9:45 pm and midnight but with different program names, so can't set it to record those. Previous unit could. Manufacturer has confirmed it cannot record time slots. Most times my previous unit could find start and end of adverts in a recording making it easy to skip through. This can't you have to do it manually. Also in standby mode impossible to turn off the red LED. Previous Panasonic HWT250 was far superior, but ITVX desupported it about 12 months and BBC iplayer from October 26. Shame on both organisations for obseleting a perfectly serviceable and excellent piece of kit.

Stop and start live TV
Easy to set up and use! My 88yr old mother wants to be able to pause live tv. She finds it straight forward to use! I found trying to pair the two remotes difficult but my mum manages well with both the TV and recorder remote anyway.

A worthy replacement for our elderly dead Humax
Our Humax PVR died so we bought another. It simply did not work! After discovering there were major issues we returned it almost immediately returned as it just did not work. We then found and bought the Manhattan freeview version and were immediately delighted with it. Its user interface is quite different to our previous Humax PVR but we are getting used to it. It looks very well designed. The recording quality is good and it was quite easy to set up once we had discarded our Humax mindset! We like the ability to access the various historic programs easily that we had not recorded. The only feature missing (unless we have not found it yet) is an easy way of seeing which freeview channel the recording was made from.

So user Friendly - a pleasure to use
Well I for sure don't miss my Sky service, this box is amazing and the easy navigation and user friendliness is second to none.

All in all a good purchase
I bought this to replace my old DVD/HDD recorder which had gone wrong. I must say that the Manhattan is quite straightforward to use and has a lot of features which my the old machine did not have. The series recording function is good, it saves time inputting each recording every time. It is silent in use and it responds well to the remote control. Tuning seems slow, but no slower than the tv. Being a high definition recorder means that we can now record any channel that is broadcast on the HD multiplex, whereas before it would not have been possible. Picture quality is good but I can`t make a comment on upscaling as I simply don`t know if something is being upscaled or not. One other good point is that the remote is a learning remote, for 5 functions of your tv, namely Vol +/-, Ch +/- and AV. All in all a good purchase.
