I bought this to replace my old DVD/HDD recorder which had gone wrong. I must say that the Manhattan is quite straightforward to use and has a lot of features which my the old machine did not have. The series recording function is good, it saves time inputting each recording every time. It is silent in use and it responds well to the remote control. Tuning seems slow, but no slower than the tv. Being a high definition recorder means that we can now record any channel that is broadcast on the HD multiplex, whereas before it would not have been possible. Picture quality is good but I can`t make a comment on upscaling as I simply don`t know if something is being upscaled or not. One other good point is that the remote is a learning remote, for 5 functions of your tv, namely Vol +/-, Ch +/- and AV. All in all a good purchase.

Limited simultaneous recording
I bought this as a replacement for my Humax Aura. But I am disappointed with the Manhattan as it can only record 2 channels at the same time (whereas the Aura could record 4 different channels simultaneously). The Manhattan works smoothly and is easy to use. When browsing the TV guide you can hear the current channel but the picture is not displayed. On the Humax when you browse the TV guide, the current channel is displayed in a small window so you dont miss anything. There is an occasional delay at start up with the Manhattan when it scans the hard drive. It is a lot of money for a product that has no functions over and above the Humax. Far fewer apps are available on the Manhattan compared to the Humax.

Great Alternative
A great alternative to TV top boxes at a far cheaper cost over time. Replaced it for Virginmedia 360 and so glad I have. Apart from initial outlay I will be saving over £40pm. Easy setup and user friendly. Highly recommended.

Superb piece of kit
On my old Panasonic I could skip adverts with the click of one button but it takes several pushes of the fast forward button and even then it doesn’t seem to skip to the exact start of the next segment of the program. That I miss but otherwise using the Manhattan I’m very very pleased.

Replacement for Humax recorder.
I bought this to replace my 10 year old Humax recorder. It was easy to set up and is simple to use and seems to do most things that the Humax recorder did. One missing feature is that recorded series items do not appear together in a file. The picture quality is not as good as that seen with the Humax.
