I bought this as a replacement for my old Humax Freeview box. It does everything I want and am very pleased with it. It is faster and the screen menus etc. seem more modern. The only thing is that I'm not keen on the remote. Feels cheap. The buttons all work ok but the shape doesn't sit in the hand comfortably. Rounded underneath but it has an awkward right angle round the edge of the button panel instead of being rounded too. It is uncomfortable constantly adjusting its position to press buttons and could do with being a bit larger overall with bigger buttons. More thought is needed for better ergonomic design and a natural feel at this price.

Still finding my way around the menus but most of it is very intuitive (just different from my old box). Picture quality is excellent and on line players (it X etc) work without buffering. Recordings are as good as watching live and easy to set up. Very pleased so far.

Good replacement for v old Humax

Manhattan is British!
I bought this to replace an ancient Humax which had served me very well. I was reluctant to change especially as I had saved recordings on the Humax. But necessity dictated differently. I researched before I bought and the Manhattan was definitely the one for me. It works very well and the recording quality is way above my old machine. It has all the required features plus options for how to store/list (alphabetically, by date recorded/genre etc). I had to unlearn the Humax way, which had become automatic, but this does the same and more. I had to connect it to my TV using a different port to my old machine and the TV didn't find it. It took me a while to work out how to do it (searching for new devices didn't work). In the end I did a factory reset for my TV (to remove any conflicting settings) and it synced immediately. So, it may help if you have someone to assist with set-up if you are not familiar with this (I believe Manhattan offer some tech support). I advise getting the largest memory size you can afford because they quickly fill up, especially if you record in HD.

Simple and fast to use.
A brilliant recorder. Simple to setup with clear instructions. Although it has more functions than my old recorder, it is easy to use the controller which is very logical and well designed. Also with 2TB it has a huge recording space to retain favourite recordings. The response is also very fast. Highly recommended.

Great tv box
I can wholeheartedly recommend this box. It is simple to set-up and my techno phoebe 70+ yo wife has no difficulty in using it. The vast majority of our use is watching programmes on bbc1&2, itv, c4 and c5. The ability to record 2 channels simultaneously whilst watching a 3rd is more than enough for us.

Yes, you can record two programs on one set-top box while a third and fourth program are being recorded on a separate set-top box attached to another HDMI port. To prevent interference, you can pair and change the IR channel on either set-top box's remote control to a different setting.
