Why buy at Argos?

The living room is the place where you relax, socialise and where the family gets together at the end of the day. Also after a tiring day, there's nothing like getting back and putting your feet up in front of the television with a lovely brew, or curling up with a good book. With our Cyber Monday furniture deals, create a living room you and your family deserve, a social space for when you have visitors, and a peaceful haven for some alone and quite time. The right living room furniture is an important choice to make - we have a range living room furniture that will be the framework of your room, and plenty of storage options.

Start with the living room sofa

The centre piece of your room is somewhere to sit and relax, and a comfortable sofa is key. Whether you go a traditional or modern living room couch, pick one that gives you enough seating area for your family, but balances with the whole room. If you have room, indulge in a three-seater. A corner sofa also provides plenty of room to stretch out, great for movie nights in out relaxing with a book. Pick a soft comfy leather or fabric sofa corner settee and snuggle down. If you often have overnight guests but no dedicated guest bedroom, then a multifunctional sofa bed is the ideal solution. These come in a range of styles and sizes, but with the bonus of providing somewhere to sleep.

Add armchairs and chairs to supplement the main furniture, and don’t always have to match either. Create a reading are with a small armchair by the window, or add an accent chair in a contrasting colour or style for an interesting feature.

Add some living room tables

Now you have somewhere to lounge on, where will you put your coffee mug or wine glass? Not only are coffee and side tables hugely practical, but they also add to the overall look of your living space and can be multi-functional with additional shelves and storage option. Choose a coffee, side or nest of tables depending on the size of your room, remembering to keep some space, usually about 18 inches, between the table and your settee.  Also think about the shape – round tables are more child friendly as they won’t have sharp edges, whereas large square coffee tables can be used for low level dining, or even for board games.

Store away the entertainment

Whether it is TV, home cinema or music, they are central to the entertainment in your lounge. Give your entertainment systems centre stage in a unit made specifically. TV unit keep TV’s at the right height, and secure, and corner tv units fit neatly into a corner so they take up less space. and all the units will hide away unattractive wires. Many of our entertainment units have storage drawers and shelves so all your media can be neatly stored away, keeping your living room tidy and tranquil. Fill your bookcases with great movies and retro vinyl’s to help you wind down in the evenings.

Living room storage

With our homes becoming smaller, and many rooms being used for several functions, having a range of storage furniture like a living room cabinet helps keep your home clutter free. Gain extra storage space in the form of a console table which will be both a beautiful and useful addition to your home. These tables are sometimes called sofa tables because they are placed behind a sofa. Add a bit of glamour with a white gloss sideboard. Traditionally they were used to keep your best dinner set in, but now, not only do they provide storage, they are also beautiful pieces of furniture to compliment your existing furniture. If you still have more books to house then floating or wall mounted shelves will help make them and other candles and ornaments look like features.

With the main furniture taken care off, now for the decorating. Create a feature wall with some contemporary printed wallpaper and a splash of paint. Neutral shades will bring a sense of calm to your living space, whereas bolder colours can provide a dramatic focal point. Give the carpet a good clean and add a colourful rug that can also be used to inject colour, plus will keep your feet warm and snuggly. And to finish the look off, add soft home furnishings like some scatter cushions for comfort and to enhance the look, or maybe a footstool or pouffe. They are sometimes seen as large cushions placed on the ground but they provide additional seating, be a foot rest, look decorative and some even have hidden storage. Finish off by placing some favourite photos into some classic picture frames and take a step back to admire the results of your hard work.
