Customers Say
Easy to set up and use with good recording features and storage. Some find the interface laggy and remote less responsive. Great value alternative to subscription services but limited app support and occasional picture quality issues.

Error
Returned this item as bought n error. I needed Freesat not Freeview and the cabling is different. Only given one star because the naming is confusing - they’re now both called Manhattan. Followed by Freeview and Freesat

Came highly recommended - I can see why.
Just purchased, and haven't explored all the options yet, but installing is fairly straightforward, and using it is pretty intuitive (if you've ever used a BT or EE TV Box, the layout will seem very familiar). Great features for the price, and means I'm not tied to a TV package with a specific provider. One tiny annoying thing - at the very bottom right of the EPG page, there's a 'view/filter' option overlay that is fixed in place, and sits over some of the text of the last line of the programme guide. Not a dealbreaker, just a minor whinge... Overall, very impressed, and would recommend!

Good but could be better
It's fine for people in the UK but not in n.ireland for it does not give any information on irish chs in the Republic of Ireland therefore you can not record any of these channels which I could on my panasonic dmr-hwt250 freeview recorder unless there is a way around it that I haven't found yet 🤔🤔🤔

A wonderful replacement to subscription TV
I bought this a few days ago. It’s purported to be very easy to set up. It wasn’t for me but mainly because I currently had an odd set up. Once I’d got the stuff sorted out it really was easy It’s a huge bonus to have this modest one off cost instead of a subscription that rises astronomically each year! Thoroughly recommended

Hello James,
The Manhattan T4-R 500GB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder:
Yes, this can connect to Wi‑Fi for on-demand TV and more, so it should work without an Ethernet connection.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Jofleet,
The supplier has advised for the Manhattan T4-R 500GB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder: The T4-R has two tuners, so it can record two channels at once. You can also watch a third channel at the same time, though this depends on which channels are being recorded.
Channels are broadcast in groups called multiplexes — which might sound a bit technical, but it simply means a group of digital channels that share the same frequency.
Here's how it works in practice:
Recording two channels from the same multiplex — you can watch any other channel freely.
Recording two channels from different multiplexes — you can only watch channels from the two multiplexes being recorded.
For example, BBC One HD and ITV1 HD are both on the same multiplex ("BBC B"), so recording both still lets you watch anything else. But if you're recording BBC One HD and Film4, which is on the "D3&4" multiplex, you'd be limited to channels on the "BBC B" and "D3&4" multiplexes while both recordings are running.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello there.
The supplier has confirmed. You do not need Wi-Fi or an internet connection to use the Manhattan T4-R 500GB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder. It can function as a standard TV recorder without an internet connection. However, connecting to the internet enhances your experience by providing features like software updates and access to on-demand content.

Hi there,
Manhattan T4-R 500GB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder
The Manhattan T4-R needs a TV aerial for live Freeview channels and recording, but it requires a WiFi (or Ethernet) internet connection to access Freeview Play's catch-up services (like BBC iPlayer, ITVX) and on-demand content, plus software updates and programme images. You can use it without internet for basic live TV and recording, but you lose the "smart" features. It does not use a satellite dish; that's for Freesat.
Thanks for using Q&A
