Argos and Comic Relief are working together to help Nourish the Nation

We are working together to help tackle food poverty in the UK, helping people access the balanced and nutritious food they need, and in communities across the world.  Our Nourish the Nation programme will help support those most in need right now and those at risk in the longer term.

Through the programme, we will work together to fund a range of incredible projects, initiatives, and interventions across the UK and in selected countries internationally that help to

  • Provide immediate relief
  • Address some of the systemic root causes
  • Provide education and skills to drive lasting change and resilience

You can donate to Comic Relief and the Nourish the Nation programme.

Let’s hear more from some of the projects we are supporting through Nourish the Nation

Rachel, Volunteer, The Bread and Butter Thing

Rachel spends her days ‘on the front line’, loading food onto vans, driving them to community hubs, and distributing the food to people (mainly families) who need it most right now. “So many people are starting to have to choose between buying food and heating their homes… To have new funding from Sainsbury’s and Comic Relief is absolutely amazing. There are no words to describe what it will do. It will help us, help other people. And that is what it’s all about… pulling together and making sure people around us aren’t struggling.”

Pauline runs Feeding Britain’s affordable food hubs in Scotland. She's determined to make a difference to people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and says that for families shopping at the Kennishead larder in Glasgow; "It used to just be food – now it’s food and fuel... Some people see it as a luxury now to keep warm, which just absolutely blows my mind, it’s unbelievable… some people are eating one meal a day."

About Comic Relief

Comic Relief uses the power of humour and popular culture to engage people to help others and raises money to support organisations working towards a just world free from poverty. Our mission combines Comic and Relief. We believe that helping others can be easy and fun, even in the face of the challenges we face every day.

Everyone should be able to have a decent standard of living and to live life with dignity and respect – but right now, in the UK and around the world, poverty and injustice restrict too many of us. We know that a better world is possible. We provide funding to fantastic organisations who are closest to the communities who can make change happen. We support work that will help to alleviate poverty’s consequences, tackle related injustices, and address the link between climate change and poverty.
