Make the Most of your Garden this Summer

Get the most out of your garden this summer

Ah the Great British summer, the smell of charcoal and grass, the sound of bees and buzzing lawnmowers and those fun long summer evenings. Summer is the stuff memories are made of (and it helps us through the dismal winter too). This year, make the most of the time you get to enjoy your garden with all the family, by following these top tips.

We recently had a garden party, and invited some experts along to find out how to make the most of our gardens this summer. Interior designer Jen from Love Chic Living came to talk about garden lighting, foodie Kerstin Rodgers, author of 'Supper Club: Recipes and notes from the underground restaurant' came to talk alternative veggie and vegan BBQ recipes, and garden designer Dawn Isaac showed us some really fun ways to get the kids involved in gardening.

Bright, beautiful sunshine and soggy showers make up the magical mix of the UK summer, so don't let extreme heat or rain drive you indoors. Seek shelter from the sun, cosy protection from a chilly breeze and enjoy the snuggly sound of falling rain while relaxing in a stylish gazebo. You will find easy-peasy 'pop-up' gazebos, along with some large enough to stage a mini-festival. Plus, you'll get to enjoy saying the word 'gazebo' repeatedly throughout the summer.

Summer days drift away, and then it's all about those summer nights. Dress up your garden for the evening with a variety of exterior lighting. Use fairy lights and directional lights to create drama and atmosphere. You can also safely light the way along the garden path with some solar LED lights, perfect for night time strolling. Place lanterns around the seating area for a cosy touch. Flickering candlelight is also great for dinner parties and solo star-gazing.
