Question Mark
I purchased these and they were not easy to set up they keep disconnecting so i returned them for a refund they may have been faulty but for the price, Not worth the money they are asking, they also feel very cheap. I thought Phillips was a premium brand but not now.

Great lights
Yeah, so I brought these lights originally for my decks for a laugh but then put them behind the TV, their really atmospheric and create a great feel when chilling watching the box or doing a bit of gaming, well happy with them, five hot dogs out of five!

Not Brand New
Bought via Argos click and collect. Box was damaged when received. And there were scratches on the edge of the light bar. Does not look brand new. Likely a returned product. Doesn't feel nice receiving 2nd hand products after paying full price (given that they are quite expensive as well). Bought from Argos just because there was no stock in Amazon. This is not the 1st time I've received items that looks used from Argos. I do understand they need to be resold. But maybe a bit of quality check before reselling it to another customer.

Excellent Lighting
I bought these lights before Christmas and have had plenty of time to use them. I have put them behind my TV and use them as ambient lighting. They look great lighting up the entire wall behind the TV, negating the use of a side lamp. If you have the Hue Bridge you can automate the lights as well. Overall a great addition to the living room set up and I couldn’t be happier.

Constant high pitched buzzing
Bought to add lighting behind a tv but the constant high pitch buzzing meant I had to return them as could be heard even when watching tv

Very impressive lighting
Having already invested a fair bit into the Phillips Hue ecosystem, I was very close to buying a Phillips TV with ambilight technology. As I had only recently upgraded my TV, I was relieved to stumble upon these which have proved to be a great addition to the rest of the hue lights we own. The lights are highly customisable and offer lots of different colour schemes/options. They’re also easy to instal and very bright. Much cheaper alternative to buying an ambilight tv, would definitely recommend!

Usual high quality Philips product
Works as advertised, producing rich vibrant colours. More reliable than the cheaper Chinese knock offs. In essence: you get what you pay for!

Thanks for using Q&A.
They are mains connection
Hi TrevC,
A 'Philips Hue Bridge' (sold separately) is required for smart control. As your TV is Ambilight simply connect your Bridge, install your new Philips Hue lights and take advantage of smart home lighting via the 'Philips Hue' app.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi MATTY,
After checking with the manufacturer, I can confirm that it depends on where you place the Philips Hue Play Light Bars as to how many you will need. If you put the bar behind the TV you will need 3 but if you are using them either side of the TV you can get away with 2 bars.
Take a look at https://www.philips-hue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white... for further help..
Thank you for using Q&A.
Dont think so! Controlling mine from the Hue app on my phone. Just connect using Bluetooth and can control colour, brightness etc.
Hello Duc,
The Philips Hue Play Light Bars - Double Pack does require the use of the Philips hue Bridge for them to operate.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Yes you do and also get the extension cable to allow you to spread the lights better
Has to be Philips
Hello I have just purchased this light strip and can confirm you will need the sync box and the hue bridge in order to make the strip change colours.
Hello Do,
I can confirm a PC is not required however you will need to purchase the Philips Hue Bridge which will allow you to sync and control them from your phone.
I hope this helps
Thank you for using Q&A
No u don't need a computer to run it. It needs a good Internet speed and good WiFi to work flawlessly. Hope this helps.
If you have the Phillips Hue Sync box you don’t need a PC but otherwise yes you need the APP on you PC
Hi Angel,
Thanks for your question.
One pack (there are 2 in each pack) is fine for a 40" display.
I hope this helps. :)
I'm using 2 on a 58 inch tv so 2 is plenty for a 40 inch
Hello there,
If you have a Philips Ambilight TV then they will sync that way though the Hub however if you don't then you will need the Philips hue sync box connected up to allow you to sync these to the image on the screen. All connections will need the Hue Bridge 2.0 (Square one) to allow this to happen.
I hope this helps,
Thanks for using Q&A.
You'd either need an Android TV which runs an app (it's a third party app) or use the hue sync box. Which costs quite a bit.
Hue do make a program for your Windows computer though, which works really well.
Hi Welshie,
You will need a WiFi router, as these will require the usage of a Philips Hue Bridge to work, the Hue Bridge connect to your router and enable the use of the Light bars
Thank you for using Argos Q&A
This requires a Phillips hue bridge to work. The bridge connects via LAN to a WiFi router which allows for control over the WiFi network. So I don’t think you’d be able to control with a hotspot unfortunately.
Some Philips hue bulbs can be controlled over Bluetooth, but not these light bars.
Hi, you will need Wifi, a Smart Phone with either Google Assistant or Apple Homekit (depending on the Operating system on your phone),download the Philips Hue app, and also purchase the Philips Hue Bridge (available separately) from here:
