Handy little unmanaged switch
These are very handy little switches to supplement ISP routers, I've used both already to get our shops up and running.

Works fine, very simple set-up
I bought this so that my daughter and I could both work out of our she-shed using the single Ethernet connection that we’d had installed. It came next day via click and collect, was really easy to set up and does exactly what we needed.

Does what it says on the tin
I bought this months ago to replace an old one that had failed. Literally plug it in, connect it up and forget about it.

Excellent but not needed eventually
Purchased for a friend who was having a new full fibre broadband installation. I assumed he would be supplied with an eero router, which only has one Ethernet port. As he needed to connect his computer and VOIP phone adapter I purchased this to connect both. I tried it out at home and it was excellent - just plug-and-play. When his new router arrived it had several Ethernet ports so this wasn’t required and Argos took it back with no fuss. Good item and good service.

It works. Plug and play
What is there to say. It works out of the box. Trusted brand and a great price. After upgrading to fibre broadband, one of the LAN ports was no longer available, so this network switch had simply solved it. Top marks to Argos and TP-LINK.

Hello Amam,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link TL-SG105 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch: TL-SG105 is an unmanaged switch, which is mainly used to expand the ethernet ports.
So you can use it to connect to a router to expand the ethernet port for more wired client devices.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Helen,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link TL-SG105 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch:
"If you plan to use this switch to expend the ports, yes, you can do it."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Jake,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch:
"Yes, all the ports of TL-SG105 support 1000Mbps, and they are auto-negotiated."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi,
There is no ethernet cable included in the package.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Yay,
I can advise the following for the TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch:
Yes, when used after the router stage, you wouldn't be able to use this from the antenna to the router to extend the cable length.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hi Jim,
The distance between the switch and the router can vary depending on several factors, such as the environment and any obstacles (like walls). Generally, keeping the switch within 10 to 30 meters (approximately 33 to 100 feet) of the router is advisable for optimal performance. However, if you are using high-quality cables and equipment, the distance may not be as critical.
If you experience connectivity issues, consider moving the switch closer to the router or checking for interference sources.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Ksm,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch:
“ Yes, it requires an external power supply to power up the switch. ”
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello Peter,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch:
No, the TP-Link TL-SG105 does not support Power over Ethernet (PoE), so it cannot supply power to the TP-Link EAP225 access point.
So in terms of what you need to power the EAP225 via PoE, you have two options.
1. Use a PoE Switch. You need a switch with PoE support, such as the TP-Link TL-SG1005P (4 PoE ports) or the TP-Link TL-SG1016PE (for more devices).
2. Use a PoE Injector. If you want to keep the TL-SG105, you can buy a PoE injector like the TP-Link TL-POE150S to power the EAP225.
Thank you for using Q and A.
