It runs hot.
For the first month all has been well. Fast, well desgned, good adio, image and connections. However, I noticed that the laptop runs pretty warm, when connecting to an external dvd player. For protracted dvd periods it runs very hot. I ran the MyHP built in app, and asked it to review this make and model, and it actually recommended a cooling pad. I have one of these, and it has been a godsend. This last weekend I've experienced sudden turn offs. When restarting, a Bios message comes up "one of the internal fans failing". I left the laptop for a night. The following morning, all seems well. We'll see!

Great Laptop at a Great Price
I’m very pleased with my purchase. I bought this laptop to replace my Windows 10 HP laptop that was no longer supported by Microsoft. It’s a great laptop for the casual user or someone studying. Was very easy to set up. The screen is clear, not fuzzy like some of the budget laptops I considered. The keyboard isn’t backlit but that’s not a problem for me. It’s speedy compared to my old HP laptop & has plenty of storage. Also came with 1 year free Norton anti virus protection which was easy to install.

Great Daily Workhorse Machine
Bought the laptop as a replacement to my Windows 10 device. The laptop itself fits my needs. As I don't do gaming on the laptop, the spec of the machine is more than adequate for what I am using it for. I would say for anyone who is studying at university, or needs a laptop for everyday use, but has a limited budget, then this machine will serve your needs. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is, HP have limited the device somewhat by only providing one USB C port. There is also no media card reader if this is something that is a must for you. The other issue is the now dated power system. HP really need to move their machines to a USB C format of powering their laptops. This would allow for charging from a powerbank. Only other issues I have found are, the battery life is pretty poor (realistically about 3 to 4 hours). The picture quality, while perfectly acceptable, has a very narrow angle of use. If you so much as tilt the screen a cm either way from the sweet spot, then the ability to see the full screen deteriorates. In the main, I'm connected to a monitor though, so not an issue for me, but if you are solely going to use the laptop screen, this may be an issue for you. All in all, I can recommend the machine for anyone who doesn't want to fork out a small fortune for a new laptop, and only really needs it for day to day tasks and studies. If you are looking at serious gaming, then this probably isn't the right device for you.

Does the job
I have used it for about 2 weeks and does what I need, such as, university work, using Microsoft, emails, many tabs open on the internet. Downside for me is the screen light looks dull especially compared to the MacBook pro I had. I do recommend for the storage and speed.

This model does not come with a fingerprint reader.
The screen tilts to approximately 125-130 degrees. It does not tilt flat or flip 360.

Bear in mind that if you upgrade a device and it develops a fault, you may be expected to restore it to original configuration before seeking support.
An alternative option is to use cloud storage or an external SSD drive.
