Very happy.
Very happy with my V8 Dyson. This was purchased to replace a V6 which was still running ok and I had for 10 + years. The V8 is much quieter with great suction even on the low suction level.

Newer model not as good as the original!
Had this model many years ago and very pleased with it, but it stopped working just a year or so after I replaced the battery. Went for the same model but very disappointed. Suction is less good and its harder to release the bin to empty. I was expecting newer model would be improved performance but instead it was poorer, (especially as labelled ADVANCED). Plastic feels cheaper, I doubt it will last very long compared to last one, wouldn't buy again.

Having to keep the power button depressed whilst using is a real pain. I thought I had ordered the Cyclone.it also.seems to be incapable of picking up small pieces of paper

The Dyson website says the V8 unit DOES come with a wall storage dock - I presume you store the unit on the wall and simply plug into the charging plug.

We would like to inform you that loop pile carpets are made with loops of yarn that can snag or fray if exposed to aggressive brushing. The Dyson V8 Cyclone Cordless Vacuum comes with a motorized cleaner head featuring rotating bristles, which are excellent for deep cleaning—but may be too harsh for delicate loop pile surfaces.
To ensure safe use:
Use the soft roller head or turn off the brush bar, if your model allows. This provides suction without agitation, making it safer for loop pile carpets.
Dyson also offers attachments designed for delicate surfaces. If you have the soft roller cleaner head (typically used for hard floors), it may be gentler on loop pile carpet.
Test a small area first to ensure no damage occurs.
Avoid high-power modes that increase brush speed and suction.
Regularly check for snagged fibers after vacuuming.
