I bought this model a week ago after comparison to other makes. So far it is easy to use the manual is simple to understand. The machine itself has a range of stitches for dressmaking and alterations. The reason I bought this model was the position of the bobbin which is drop in. Brother is well known for being a reliable make depending on your need and capability. This model would be good for either a beginner or accomplished sewer.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Brother LS14s Manual Stitch Sewing Machine - White: Unfortunately, the LS14s doesn’t have a whip stitch, as this is a hand sewn stitch.
However, a normal zigzag stitch will work for whipping.

You will need a darning plate compatible for this to install above the feed dogs and a free motion darning foot.
