About this product
The Phoenix Ottoman Bed organises your bedroom and maximises storage without taking up extra floor space. It's designed for smaller bedrooms where wardrobes or chests won't fit easily. The end lift base opens smoothly using gas pistons, revealing deep storage space underneath that's ideal for bedding, seasonal clothes, or spare pillows. The solid rubberwood frame provides reliable support, while the included headboard completes the look. A sprung slatted base adjusts to pressure points and gives natural bounce for comfortable rest.
The gas pistons require a mattress on top to operate properly and support up to 45 kg mattress weight. The frame holds a maximum total weight of 350 kg, offering stability for everyday use. The storage compartment measures 116.8 cm wide and 193 cm deep, with 27 cm internal height for bulky items. Side rails feature a protective finish that handles daily wear. Supplied flat-packed with clear instructions, assembly by two people recommended. Comes with headboard fixings and a manufacturer's one year guarantee.
The gas piston strength on this frame is 588 N. The maximum weight load for the Phoenix Ottoman frame is 350 kg and can support mattresses up to the weight of 45 kg. Please note the mattress needs to be on the bed for the pistons to work. Birlea beds are only suitable for a UK standard size mattress and the recommended maximum mattress height is 203 mm.

Birlea Phoenix Ottoman Kingsize Wooden Bed Frame
I bought it for myself. Me and my daughter assembled it. We took about three hours with every bit and piece and it was not difficult to do as we strictly follow instructions, which were also very clear. I love the navy colour which goes very well with the colour of my bedroom walls. Great storage but things need to be in bags or boxes. The frame for the mattress looks to be very supportive. I just didn't go for 5 stars because I haven't slept on it yet. I also ordered a new mattress, which hasn't been delivered yet. Hopefully very soon I'll be having a 5 star sleep :)

Bought this bed couple of weeks ago. Nice strong bed the only thing I would say is you got to be good with DIYs to get this fixed or at least you should know who can do this for you. I had two of my friends who helped me with this and it took us just over 3 hours to fix it.

brought 3 weeks ago and the sides have distorted and every time you lift for storage it all goes out of line. It creaks with the slight movement. Very unhappy with the build quality

I buy this bed a months ago and I fix it all by myself, lovely bed and have lots of space to put on the stuff under. I was sceptic for the colour if will come same as show in the picture but I was so happy when I see the colour is exactly the same.

Fabulous bed
Great quality and easy to put together with two people. Easy to use when lifting up but at first it feels stuck up but it’s just the first couple of weeks times lifting the bed up. Make sure you are central at the end of the bed and push down firmly. You get used to it and it’s great.

Delivery and communication was seamless. Overall build quality was fine, but the bed creaks a bit. Slats and the plastic bits used to attach them seem to be of poor quality and cheap. Also a lots of bits and pieces to assemble.

Thanks for your response so just to be clear by outside do you mean the flat edge should face the wall ie the back of the bed and for the bottom the flat edge should be towards the bottom of the mattress or the other side? Thanks

For the Birlea Phoenix Ottoman Kingsize Wooden Bed Frame, the top bar pieces with the wood effect should be installed with the flat edge facing the outside. Hello Maz, the length of a normal small double bed is approximately 190cm. This bed is an ottoman style and our suppliers have advised that the measurement of 210cm is correct.
