About this product
The Phoenix Ottoman Bed gives you a proper sleeping space with hidden storage underneath, so spare bedding, seasonal clothes, and extra bits stay tucked away but easy to reach. It's built from solid rubberwood, a natural hardwood that's strong enough for daily use. The oak finish shows off the wood's natural grain, while the white option gives a clean, neutral look that fits most bedroom styles. The base lifts from the foot end, so you can access the storage without straining your back or clearing space around the sides.
The slatted base flexes where pressure's applied, giving natural bounce and support that works with your mattress. The internal storage space measures 27cm high, 73.5cm wide, and 193cm deep, enough room for bulky duvets, pillows or out-of-season clothing. The rubberwood headboard's included and fixes securely to the frame. It's designed for a UK standard single mattress up to 203mm thick and 45kg in weight, and the maximum user weight is 110kg. Assembly required with two people recommended, all fixings included. Manufacturer's one-year guarantee provided.
The gas piston strength on this frame is 588 N. The maximum weight load for the Phoenix Ottoman frame is 350 kg and can support mattresses up to the weight of 45 kg. Please note the mattress needs to be on the bed for the pistons to work. Birlea beds are only suitable for a UK standard size mattress and the recommended maximum mattress height is 203 mm. Storage space dimensions: Headboard to centre divide - 119cm Footboard to centre divide - 74cm.

Quality control needs to be better
Received this last week, after unboxing all parts and starting to build we found both long side pieces were damaged on the corner, we were too far into building to stop and take apart and pack it back up and we needed to use the bed so we had to carry on and the damaged corner are covered with the duvet. Not easy to put together and some parts are different to instructions and different to video. After working it out ourselves we managed to put the bed together. Bed looks great but disappointed with quality. Wish I’d checked all pieces before starting the build, I would advise you do this if you purchase this bed.

Good practical and pretty bed.
Really comfortable and sturdy bed. A little tricky to put together and the ottoman mechanism is a little stiff but sure that will ease with time. Good amount of storage space.

Good bed - Recommended l
Bought this bed couple of weeks ago. Nice strong bed the only thing I would say is you got to be good with DIYs to get this fixed or at least you should know who can do this for you. I had two of my friends who helped me with this and it took us just over 3 hours to fix it.

Nice bed
Nice looking bed and good storage but the size of the king size frame is much bigger than a king size mattress leaving a sizeable gap all the way around the bed. Particularly at the bottom - so big you can’t on the edge of the bed. Took around 4 hours to assemble.

Highly recommended
This took about 3 and a half hours to build

Good bed, Painful corners and even more painful...
instructions. My best advice for you is if you want to build this bed, do so without ever looking at the instructions provided. They led me down rabbit holes and dead ends until I finally braved the unknown and conquered the task despite it looking hopeless at times. It is worth mentioning once again too - that the corners of this bed are VERY painful to bang your shin on - but our space is limited so it might be why.

Fabulous bed
Great quality and easy to put together with two people. Easy to use when lifting up but at first it feels stuck up but it’s just the first couple of weeks times lifting the bed up. Make sure you are central at the end of the bed and push down firmly. You get used to it and it’s great.

Good communication and fine quality bed
Delivery and communication was seamless. Overall build quality was fine, but the bed creaks a bit. Slats and the plastic bits used to attach them seem to be of poor quality and cheap. Also a lots of bits and pieces to assemble.

Hello Neil,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Birlea Phoenix Single End Lift Ottoman Bed - Oak: We can confirm there is no base to the ottoman of this bed frame it is open to the floor.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Thanks for your response so just to be clear by outside do you mean the flat edge should face the wall ie the back of the bed and for the bottom the flat edge should be towards the bottom of the mattress or the other side? Thanks
Hi Lonewolf,
It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble with the assembly! For the Birlea Phoenix Ottoman Kingsize Wooden Bed Frame, the top bar pieces with the wood effect should be installed with the flat edge facing the outside. The arrow on the underside of the bar typically indicates the direction the piece should face, so aligning the arrow correctly should help ensure proper assembly.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hello Joe,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Birlea Phoenix Small Double End Lift Ottoman Bed - Grey:
This product is a combined construction of Rubberwood & MDF. The best product to varnish MDF or rubberwood is a polyurethane or lacquer-based sealer. However, please be aware that any amendments to the product will void your guarantee.

Hello Cameron,
The supplier has advised the following for the Birlea Phoenix Double Ottoman Wooden Bed Frame - Stone Grey:
No, you would need to assemble the headboard. It comes as a main panel, which is already built, but you’d need to fix the side posts, the top rail, and bottom rail to it.

The headboard is built but the bed comes in numerous tiny parts. In all honesty, the delivery and building of this bed was a nightmare
