Very powerful drill
I needed to drill into my concrete garage to fix some extension parts to the guttering. In the past, using a hammer drill, I have struggled to drill any holes into the concrete. I bought this drill hoping it would do the job even though it was at a very low cost. I couldn’t have been more pleased as there was so much power that it went through the concrete like a knife through butter.

Good value and well built
Great drill, did exactly what I needed it to. I can’t believe I paid the same price for this drill as I did for my previous one which I probably bought at least 25 years ago. I think it’s great value for money and seems to be well built and robust when used.

Excellent value
I am very impressed with this drill - went through concrete like a knife through butter; cut the time drilling in half. With the depth guage i could drill holes to a precise and accurate depth. It is a nice weight - not heavy (I'm an old fella with arthritis) but it was easy for me to use. Not only a hammer drill but an electric chisel too, so it can dig out that concrete and cement.

Well worth buying
So glad I bought this. I wanted to put a 'barn door' on my kitchen doorway and the local brick in my area is horrendous and a normal power drill just wouldn't cut it. This went through it like a knife through butter and I had the holes drilled in minutes. Very pleased with the price too, great value for money and I also took out the extra cover for it too.

Excellent and powerful hammer drill and good price
I’ve only used this once but it did a good job drilling a large hole into a very hard garage concrete floor. Range of included drills and chisel is very good and the drill worked well. Case is very good helping to keep it tidy when not in use.

Hello Donna.
The supplier has confirmed. The Guild Corded SDS Rotary Drill 1000W is rated for masonry drilling up to 26mm, so it is unlikely to drill 40mm holes in brick

Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Guild Corded SDS Rotary Hammer Drill - 1000W: We would only using the sized drill bits supplied with the drill (8/10/12x150mm)
Please be aware that SDS rotary drills can be used for some mixing tasks, they are not ideal for heavy-duty concrete mixing. SDS drills are primarily designed for drilling into hard materials like concrete and masonry. While some SDS drills come with mixing paddles, they are generally not as powerful as dedicated concrete mixers and may not be able to handle large quantities or heavy mixes.
Thank you for using Q&A.

The drill does come with an auxiliary handle. The handle can be moved to allow for different positioning for drilling and chiselling, such as tiles. Please see the link below for the operating manual:

The front handle grip is very easy turn to any position so if you have an angled 25 ° chisel then it would be a breeze
Maybe Argos can remove the picture on the page which says it can easily be switched to reverse, when the picture is of a drill action selection mode.
Hi Mark B,
The Guild Corded SDS Rotary Hammer Drill - 1000W, does not have a reverse function.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Yup! Aim between the joints if it is a brick type wall and it will crumble as fast humpty Dumpty who fell from the wall. For a solid concrete type just whittle at it bit by bit, try not to aim for one spot and make a deep hole as the chisel can get stuck in said hole.
You can even reclaim any bricks by using a flat chisel or even another SDS chisel used for tiling to help speed up mortar removal.
Make sure you use eye, ear and respiratory protection.
Hello Dougie,
