Unbelievable quality of picture and superb sound.

Too complicated
After 2 weeks i conqured the menu system " Too much " .... The removal of the headphone socket was a mistake. The menu to use headphones is too complicated. The size of the remote is annoying to use. The picture and sound are good but vsrious reviewers could not have used it in a domestic situation.

Looks good in my lounge.
I bought a Sony Bravia 14 (?) years ago and wes very happy with it. Of course it did not have the current generation of programmes and apps. When my poor TV died just in the new year (2026) I bought my current Sony Bravia and have enjoyed looking through all the new add ons.

Great features
Had this tv for about 3 weeks now. So different from my previous Sony LED tv in level of techy stuff! Still finding my way around it and getting used to the different features. I am so disappointed with the remote controls (2) The backlit one is brilliant for my not too good eyesight when using it. Only trouble is I cannot fast forward with it and I have to use the 2nd remote. This 2nd one is cheap and smaller and not very ergonomically designed. Could they have a rethink? Also because I have used the backlit remote so much trying out the different options, the batteries only lasted about 2 weeks (expensive!) The picture is sharp and colour is good. Sound without a soundbar is better than my previous tv. Wish the front page was brighter (not easy to read as it is so much darker) Having said all this I am happy so far with my choice. Time will tell.

Great but has bugs in the software
Excellent in every respect EXCEPT when you do a software update - it is necessary to do a full factory reset after doing the software update otherwise old data in the system causes misbehaviour of the menu for setting reminders. Doing a full reset means you have to re-enter all your account information for Prime, Netflix, etc etc. Is it incompatibility between Sony and Google software or a bug in either of these? Sony are currently investigating this.

Good picture. Easy to set up.
We've had our new TV for one week and are very pleased with it. The picture is great. We also bought the Sony Theatre Bar 6 and are pleased with the sound.

Unexpected purchase, but delighted!
I decided it was time to treat myself to a new tv, bigger than my previous one! The twist in the story is that I was adamant I wanted a Samsung! I went in to the shop, looked at 3 different Samsung tv's, spoke to the assistant and came out with a Sony! And I couldn't be more pleased! Great picture, terrific sound and very easy to set up. Roll on the winter Olympics which will look so much better on this tv! Thanks Sony!

Lovely TV
Bought this just after Christmas. Thought our old tv was good but this is a different world. Took a bit to get used to operating it but not really difficult.

What's not to like?
We bought the 48" version for a large room and it's a pleasure to watch - the picture is excellent and the sound is good on its own. It took a couple of hours to set up using google tv, but half of this was some issues we had with google not the actual tv set, which had a fairly straightforward set of instructions. We haven't attached any other equipment to it so can't comment on that. The menu system is fine - what with different apps there are always a few steps needed to move between them. Haven't tried using verbal instructions as the remote works fine.

Hi,
Thank you for your question.
Yes, if you connect headphones to the XR-48A90K it will automatically mute as the TV is designed to send audio to only one of the outputs at a time. However, sound can be output from both an audio system and the TV speakers at the same time using a digital optical cable. You can learn more here: https://cutt.ly/Nr7vmZ09...

Hi Banabelle,
Yes, the Sony 48 Inch XR48A90KU Smart 4K UHD HDR OLED Freeview TV has English subtitles which can be accessed from the settings.
Thanks for using Q&A,
Hi Banabelle,
No, the XR-48A90K doesn't necessarily need a soundbar. Sony's Acoustic Surface Audio technology implemented in this TV model is designed to deliver immersive sound directly from the screen. It creates a wide soundstage and can provide a satisfying audio experience without additional speakers. So, whether you need a soundbar or not, depends on your personal preferences and how much you value audio quality, if you're looking for a more powerful and immersive audio experience, you can check this link to learn more about the TV: https://cutt.ly/JeRnPSdK...

Hi Samjr, in our 2021 lineup, we didn't have a 48 Inch OLED TV. The main difference between the 2021 and the 2022 line up is going to be the introduction of the Bravia Cam as well as the Camera functions, also the new Voice remote control, this model has a built-in MIC switch and has Netflix calibrated mode. We recommend checking this link for the specifications and features: http://bit.ly/3XrYclo...
