Good bit of kit
A good bit of kit, yes it can get quite heavy after a while but not unusable. Did a really good job of the conifers and in half the time of using a ladder ect. Well worth the money

Too heavy
I purchased this earlier this month.. whilst it cuts adequately, I had to keep stopping as it’s so heavy !! The next day I’d felt like I’d lifted the Titanic !! I wish I hadn’t bothered at all - too late now though 😵💫

Only had it a week so haven't used it but put it together easily and looks the job so hopefully years of efficient service

Easy reach.
Just bought these cutters recently and must say they are brilliant. No more ladders sinking into the ground while trying to gain height in order to reach my tall privets.Job done in a fraction of the time and a lot less hassle.Would highly recommend.

Good quality but difficult to manoeuvre
Good quality product however it was much heavier than we imagined. The harness is essential but it’s difficult to angle for tops of bushes due to the overall weight

Dreadful
Dreadful! It’s not lightweight at all and the weight distribution makes it extremely difficult (impossible!) for this 66 year old female to use. I have just wasted £100 but as I’ve tried to use it, I’m assuming I wouldn’t be able to ask for a refund ☹️.

Bit too heavy and awkward to use
Have just used trimmer for first time, cuts well but the cutting head is very heavy and ergonomically tricky to handle due to the position on the power switch and being unable tock the power switch on when using. Power on switch needs to be closer to the cutting blade. If you are physically not strong I would say do not buy.

Not easy to use
Although the cutter itself works well, I found it difficult to use once the pole was extended. The pole flexes too much, which means that the cutters don't have the rigidity necessary to cut effectively. Perhaps it will become more efficient with practise.

Well made cutter.
Easy to assemble and appears well made. Good value.Adjustments to length and handle are easy to make. Used once so far and it does its job well. Good cutting not too heavy unless used at full extension with shallow angle. Useful high cutting without using a ladder but a normal cutter is easier for low level work.

Hi Ellie,
Thanks for your query about the Spear & Jackson 45cm Corded Pole Hedge Trimmer - 550W.
This is equipped with an aluminium telescopic tube, which extends from 195cm to 265cm for safer long-reach cutting. The telescopic handle prevents you having to over reach, so it's easy to adjust to suit the height of your hedge. A shoulder strap makes it easier for you to hold and control the trimmer.

Hi There,
Spear & Jackson 45cm Corded Pole Hedge Trimmer - 550W
Having checked the manual I can see it advises to fix the hook of the shoulder strap into the lifting lug
on the handle pole of the appliance.
Thanks for using Q&A.
I found these instructions online and it does work, however, I feel it may be unsafe and I just use the metal clips.... The L shaped metal bar at the end of the long black strap goes through the loop attached to the spring clip that fixes to the pole. The bar at the other end of the orange strap then slides through the slit in the L shaped bar, locking it in place.
