Expensive ornament
I bought this thinking it would make things around the house much easier. It blocks after about 5 minutes. I have spent more time troubleshooting and clearing everything out, taking it apart to empty it and putting it back together rather than vacuuming. Tried to get support help from Shark with no joy. Incredibly frustrating and disappointing. It is now an ornament in the corner of the room

Disappointed.
I never leave reviews but this hoover is driving me mad! Had this for about a year now, I have tiled & carpeted flooring. So the switch modes on this and self empty seemed to be a great choice to go with especially with a busy lifestyle. Initially, the first 3-5 weeks, it was ok, but the little cone inside gets clogged up quickly meaning, you have to wash & clean this every other week if not weekly, to get the Hoover to actually suck up, without getting clogged, then there’s a little magnetic flap under the handle which also collects debris, and this flap just falls open and allows what is inside to fall on the floor once you’ve hoovered up which is extremely annoying! It’s also not anti hair wrap. I have long hair, so does my 3 year old daughter & obviously we naturally shed. This gets stuck around the barrel (head of the hoover) and I have to cut it off weekly. Also have to empty it and clean the head & filter weekly to ensure it actually sucks up. It doesn’t actually get up into the corners of rooms, in the kitchen or dining area, or right up against furniture, you have to get the dirt out with a brush or your finger & then hoover it. Which is just ridiculous. Recently I’ve noticed it blowing bits out the back also which just defeats the object of hoovering up! The suction is ok, but doesn’t get all the little socks bits off carpet, you have to keep going over and over it, it’s definitely better on hard flooring. My first shark Hoover, I moved over from a Gtech after hearing friends saying how good they are but they had plug ins not wireless so I took a chance on this. However, my opinion is quite different, my Gtech lasted 5 years and I never had to faf around with it as much as this, therefore, I probably wouldn’t recommend it if you have carpet or rugs, or any length of hair that can get wrapped around the barrel & you don’t mind having to take it apart to clean different parts at least once a week. And most certainly wouldn’t recommend it for pet hair with the little cone filter. Handheld, the nozzle that comes with it also doesn’t allow you to hoover down the cracks in your car, it’s too thick and wide. And the pipe is long, therefore difficult to manoeuvre. + Although, the charge allowed me to hoover my 3 bed house but doesn’t suck up to get all the bits on the carpet upstairs especially when you’ve already done downstairs. It is lightweight. Much lighter than my old Gtech. It would work great as a second hoover to just collect a few bits every now and then but it’s too expensive to buy just for that. Also, I have arthritis in my thumb and really struggle to take it apart to use as a handheld so wouldn’t be great for the older generation! My nan is 80, great for her age & couldn’t do it, my mum 56 and she couldn’t do it. It’s very stiff and hasn’t got easier with use over 12months. Upon emptying into its back, when you put it on its dock, it’s extremely loud, scares you every-time for the first few weeks! Always had it on high suction, low is just pointless. I’m quite disappointed with it as my dad brought it for my birthday last Feb 2025. Sorry Shark, but it doesn’t quite do what it says on the tin! Definitely won’t purchase another after having this.

Disappointed... initial good impression soon faded
Disappointed...For the first few months the shark was ok, but it has now started dropping dust from the emptying flap as it doesn't reseal itself. It also blocks up very frequently and has trouble self emptying.once the cone filter is covered its performance is impaired. We actually have a cleaner who brings her industrial vacuum so this is only used between visits..so it is not subject to heavy demand. We replaced a Dyson V6 with the shark, as we got fed up with the 'preset' battery life but never had any criticism of the vacuum performance. Regret we cannot recommend as the initial impression was good.

The brushroll will not switch on on its own while the vacuum is in the upright position. The brushroll will only activate when you place your foot on the nozzle to disengage the lock.
Yes, the Shark BU3521UK comes with a 8" Duster Crevice Tool and a Pet Multi Tool which can be used to clean in small or tight areas.
The brush bar cannot be switched off entirely. We recommend testing the vacuum on an isolated area to prevent damaging sensitive fabrics.

The unit's base will include its own cable, which you will connect directly to the wall socket.
Inside the box of the Shark Cordless Stick Vacuum with Auto Empty System BU3521UK, you will discover an 8" Duster Crevice Tool.
This unit provides three flexible charging options. It can be charged by positioning the unit on the dock, inserting the charger into the port situated below the handle of the handheld vacuum, or directly charging the battery once it has been removed from the handheld.
Using a bag inside the Auto-Empty base is not advisable, as it could interfere with the proper extraction of dust and debris from the Handvac dust cup into the sealed base of the Auto-Empty dock following every clean.
It is important to note that this model is equipped with a power cord, which means it does not come with removable batteries.
The cord to charge the base of this vacuum is 1.2 meters and can be plugged into any UK standard socket.
