This Encore half size guitar is the ideal way to begin learning the exciting skills of playing guitar at an early age. This Junior ½ size guitar is perfect for the younger player. Made of wood for a great sound, and equipped with comfortable nylon strings, suitable for a beginner. The guitar comes complete with a carry bag with shoulder straps for easy transportation, a guitar strap, spare set of strings in case you break one, and a pitch pipe to help you tune it accurately.

Excellent beginner guitar
Bought for my sons 6th birthday. He's says "I can easily play it, it is red at the back which I really like, the strap is not great" I think it's been brilliant and he won't put it down!

I just got this guitar and it's been a great choice for a beginner like me. The build quality is solid, the sound is clear, and it's comfortable to play. Definitely a good option if you're just starting out or looking for a budget-friendly practice guitar

Excellent sound for size
We had been looking everywhere for a decent half size guitar, and only found ones that were toys really. This one however is absolutely spot on!! Dad is a musician and totally approved, he tuned it in and now our grandson is ready to start learning to play.

Great first guitar from a real instrument brand
It's surprisingly hard to find a quality 1/2 size guitar for a reasonable price, with most costing more than their 3/4 size counterparts. While Encore is a budget instrument brand, they are at least a manufacturer of instruments as opposed to toy imitations, so I was surprised to find it being sold by Argos - a non-music shop. Especially considering all local music shops stocked little to nothing in 1/2 size. The overall quality is great, with the only imperfection being a ripple in the lacquer - not a concern for me. Most importantly, the guitar tunes and plays like a full-size classical making it a great first guitar. The only shortcoming for me was the lack of a strap button on the neck side. As a musician, it was no problem for me to drill and fit a button which I had spare, but for a non-musician, I can imagine this would be very confusing. The strap can be attached to the bottom end of the guitar using the factory-fitted button, but on the neck side, you are left to improvise. It's common to attach the strap to the head using string or a shoelace, but a non-guitarist wouldn't know this. As you'd expect, the accessories are basic with the guitar case being made of something resembling a thick bin-bag material, a huge pick for a predictably small person and a pitch-pipe. It all works, but the bag is good for no more than protection from dust. Again, all fine in my book as I expected the cost to be for the instrument itself with any accessories being a bonus. The one spare I was impressed with was a complete set of spare steel strings. Strings snapping are something a non-musician wouldn't predict and the new guitarist would be left without their instrument while they wait for mum or dad to get themselves down to the local music shop to buy replacements. Providing these backups from day 1 is great foresight. Overall, a highly recommend first guitar from a brand that manufactures decent budget instruments.

Recently brought this to learn how to play. Good size and sounds great just wish some of the strings were metal not the plastic ones.
