Simple to set up but documentation could be better
Dead simple to set up, although it would have been clearer for the Quick Start sheet to label the WPS button. Also, the online manual for the device shows way more options for the device than are available in the one I bought.

Can't fault it, absolute bargain

Superb features
I recently added this WiFi booster to my home setup, and it’s made a noticeable difference in both coverage and reliability. Before installing it, I had frustrating dead zones—especially in the upstairs rooms and the far corners of the house—but now the signal reaches consistently throughout every area. Setup was surprisingly straightforward. The instructions were clear, and within minutes I had it connected and synced with my existing router. I also appreciated that the device maintained a stable connection without frequent dropouts, which has been an issue with other extenders I’ve tried in the past. Performance-wise, the improvement has been impressive. Streaming is smoother, video calls are more stable, and even bandwidth-heavy tasks like gaming and large downloads run without interruptions. While speeds slightly decrease compared to being right next to the main router (which is expected), the consistency more than makes up for it. The design is compact and unobtrusive, so it doesn’t take up much space or look out of place. It also runs quietly and doesn’t overheat, even after extended use. Overall, this WiFi booster delivers exactly what it promises: better coverage, improved reliability, and an easy setup process. It’s a solid choice for anyone dealing with weak signal areas at home and looking for a simple, effective solution.

Hello Tommo,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link TL-WA850RE 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender:
"Yes, the TP-Link range extender is broadly compatible with most standard Wi-Fi routers, including those from other brands like EE. As long as your EE mini hub broadcasts a standard Wi-Fi network (using protocols such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), the TL-WA850RE should be able to connect and extend its Wi-Fi signal. Please note, compatibility issues may arise only if the router uses modified, outdated, or non-standard firmware, but this is uncommon for most consumer routers.
If your EE mini hub uses an open Wi-Fi network (no password) or a hidden Wi-Fi network, the TP-Link extender also supports connecting to these types of networks."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi,
TL-WA850RE does not come with the power lead. It is directly plugged into the power outlet.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Dave,
The TL-WA850RE is a 2.4GHz-only device — it does not have a 5GHz radio.
This means it will only be able to connect to and extend your router's 2.4GHz network.
If 5GHz support is important for your setup — for example, for faster speeds or less interference — you may want to consider a dual-band range extender such as the RE450 or RE330, both of which support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
Yes, the TL-WA850RE is broadly compatible with most standard Wi-Fi routers, including both TP-Link and non-TP-Link models like your Plusnet router. However, compatibility issues may arise with routers or gateways that use modified, outdated, or non-standard firmware. As long as your Plusnet router is using standard Wi-Fi protocols, the TL-WA850RE should work without any issues to extend your fibre broadband Wi-Fi coverage.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Suesue3030,
The TP-Link TL-WA850RE 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender signal strength will vary from household to household.
A set up video is available on the items media library on the website.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi,
You can use two extenders together in a single network. To ensure optimal network quality, it is recommended to connect both extenders directly to the host router's Wi-Fi network instead of connecting one extender to another. Assign a different Wi-Fi name to the first extender so you can separate its Wi-Fi from your router's. The setup process for adding a second extender is the same as for the first one.
If both the router and the extenders support the EasyMesh feature, you can follow the instructions provided in this link: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3582/...
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Chris,
TP-Link Range Extenders are broadly compatible with most standard Wi-Fi routers, including both TP-Link and non-TP-Link models like TalkTalk routers. However, please note that compatibility issues may arise with routers or gateways that use modified, outdated, or non-standard firmware. As long as your TalkTalk router uses standard Wi-Fi protocols and has up-to-date firmware, the TP-Link Range Extender should work without any problems to extend your Wi-Fi coverage.
Thanks for using Q&A.

Hello James,
I can advise the following for the TP-Link TL-WA850RE 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender:
Yes, this is possible to hardwire the extender so that you can reach areas that Wi-Fi can't pass through.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello,
Yes, the TP-Link TL-WA850RE is universally compatible and will work with your BT full fibre 150 setup. However, its technical specifications will limit the potential speed you can achieve.
Compatibility
The TP-Link TL-WA850RE is designed to be a universal Wi-Fi range extender, working with virtually any Wi-Fi router or wireless access point, including the BT Hub provided with your Full Fibre 150 service.
Connectivity: Connection can be established easily using the WPS button on both the extender and your BT Hub.
Wired Option: The extender also features a single Ethernet port, allowing you to connect a wired device (like a gaming console or TV) to your network.
Potential Issue: In some cases with older BT Hubs, users have reported issues with the "Smart Setup" feature needing to be turned off in the hub manager for a seamless connection.
Have a nice day!
