Helpful decorating tips
Getting your home ready for Christmas should be a fun and magical time. To get started, carefully pack away some of your everyday furnishings to make space, clear and clean any surfaces, and then dig out those decorations for some festive oohs and aahs.
How many baubles do I need for the tree?
As a guide, 80 baubles should cover a 6ft tree nicely, but it also comes down to personal taste. A minimalist approach can work well, as can a tree bursting with baubles! Start from the middle of the tree and work outwards to avoid knocking any baubles off, and mix up different sizes and colours to add interest.
How many lights do I need for the tree?
Roughly speaking, we recommend about 80 lights per foot of height - so about 480 lights for a 6ft tree. Remember to measure how far the tree will be from the plug socket and make sure the lead length between plug and decoration is long enough.

Safety tips

- Don't leave Christmas lights running when you go to bed at night, or when you leave the house.
- Don't use tacks, nails or screws to hang lights, which can pierce the cable and become electrified. Use insulated hooks instead.
- If bulbs have burned out replace them right away, but make sure you use the correct wattage bulbs.
