DriveSmart66 - Fair replacement Satnav
I bought this to replace an older Garmin Nuvi Satnav. The new DriveSmart66 has a clearer, brighter screen and works in many ways similarly to the old one. It has better connectivity via wifi and bluetooth than the old one but takes longer to start up which is frustrating. You have to be connected to Garmin Drive app for traffic info so your phone is always on for that but no extra USB point provided on the Garmin plug for you to charge when Garmin is plugged in to the car socket. Setting up routes seems more complicated with many of the instructions via icons which you have to guess what they mean but I'll get used to that. Here Maps seem Ok but the map doesn't zoom to junctions etc as close as the old one and slightly less non road info shown. Warning of upcoming speed limits useful but not when its down a side road you are passing. Battery charge goes down quickly when not plugged in. Unit has built in speaker so not necessary to connect to your car audio unless wanted. Like the lifetime maps and Cyclops Speed cam info. Seems quicker to find locations and points of interest than older unit.

Well did due diligence, you have to as can't return. Last sat nav was a tom tom hard to beat. This comes close. But fiddly and lacking in instructions. Difficult to mount and no choice in mounting. Would have like choices. Ie ledge or window. This is just window. Then Difficult to get back off. You need a smart phone but unclear what that adds

Does what it says on the tin
Bought this to replace an older model which was refusing to be updated! This is an effective piece of equipment although slightly disappointing. The map display seems very basic and it was nice to be able to choose a car symbol to match my own on the previous version. However, this model has an effective voice control system which was previously not available and traffic updates seem very rapid and detailed.

The Garmin DriveSmart 66 was very easy to set up & link with the app on my phone. I have only used on a couple of occasions in the UK to date but the directions have been accurate, easy & clear to follow.

Had a navi 55, but screen went dead, so upgraded to the garmin 66 much better features, great sound and pictures, only downfall is that it doesn't add stops to routes( for example delivery route)like the navi55 did. There is a way to do it though, just takes getting used too.
