Solid enough, let down by quality
I have contacted Argos twice regarding this. Have had no response so I felt obliged to share, especially as we paid full price. I was partly sceptical based on the reviews but it was the exact type of table that we wanted, reasonably price so we purchased it. Good: It arrived ok and was easy enough to put together. Not too heavy which made a difference. Bad: My main concerns are with the finish of the table top. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be a more rough and ready finish (it doesn't specify this per se) but there are a number of quality issues I would like to highlight - the main being the big patch of wood filler. If the filler used was dark then it would not be very noticeable however as it has been stained you can see it much more. The other areas are rough patches and a large dent on the side of the top. I completely understand that wood is a natural product and has variations etc but these feel beyond that

Not what it looks like.
This table looks fantastic and affordable, however the reality is very different. It has a horrible coating on it which makes it look plastic and fake. It’s also really difficult to assemble. Habitat, please try to follow IKEA’s example and make your products more user friendly.

Very rough
The table is solid - but completely rough it has such uneven surface! Kitchen towel stays on the surface if wiping the table. The legs are smoother than the top, but but only on the outside, the bottom and inside is rough like sandpaper - goodbye tights! And the lacquer is plastic-feel and greenish colour just like the other reviews stated. If you do want to sand it down, you will have to take at least 0,5mm down.

Very veneer
We got this half price in the sale. I would have been disappointed with it if we'd paid full price. Its a perfect size and is fairly solid, it is just the table surface has a very 'veneer' look about it. It will be practical, we won't need to worry about stains etc so that's the upside, but it's not quite what I expected!

Great look, perfect size
This table looks great in my space, it’s the perfect length and comfortably fits 6-8 people but could probably have room for extra places if needed. The wood feels solid, a little plastic-y to the touch but I think that is just the varnish. The base was easy to assemble but it was difficult to attached the table top. The screw holes are very narrow so our screwdriver didn’t fit and we had to buy another one, and there are no guide holes on the top so you have to be careful to measure and line it up precisely.

Olivy green colour
It’s a nice table but the colour is weird, it’s like olivy green! I bought it for my lake house where are a lot of food details so it’s weird colour realism shows…

Great table - with a little work
I spent a lot of time looking for the right dining table for my space. Eventually I discovered this one - just the right size and proportions, and at a very good price. It lived up to expectations, although I found the colour and lacquered finish a bit odd - it reminded me of brown Formica. However, I lightly sanded the top, applied chalk finish furniture paint and then sanded it down to reveal the character of the wood grain. I then painted the legs with Dulux ‘spun mohair’ emulsion and rubbed that back a bit. Then a final wax and polish. I’m really pleased with the result. So it’s a great table at a good price - just needs a bit of work to turn it into what you want. Hope that helps.

Big, solid, nice-looking table
This was just what we were looking for for our big kitchen. It is easily big enough for 8, doesn't need extending so there are no joins showing and is well-made of solid pine. Lots of room for bits and bobs. It looks really nice. It took 1 1/2 people in their seventies (my husband and me) to assemble it in about 1 1/4 hours including our early mistakes. We would certainly recommend this table to anyone with a big enough kitchen

Yes, the wood does have a treatment/finish applied to it that prevents it from going yellow/orange over time. So, as a result, this pine will not significantly change colour over time (as long as it is used correctly).
