About this product
Carbon monoxide's got no smell, no colour, nothing to warn you it's there. This alarm picks up the gas before it becomes dangerous and gives you time to get out and sort the problem. It'll sit on a shelf or table if you want it freestanding, or you can mount it on the wall or ceiling. Runs on two AA batteries that come in the box, and it'll tell you when the seven-year sensor reaches the end of its life so you know when to replace it.
The alarm works in any room where there's a potential carbon monoxide source, near boilers, gas fires or wood burners. Test button confirms the unit's functioning properly between annual checks. Freestanding or wall-mounted options mean you can position it wherever makes sense for your home. End-of-life warning prevents you running an expired sensor without realising. BSI certified to EN50291-12018 standard for carbon monoxide detection. Batteries included so you can get it working the moment it arrives.

- 7 year sensor life.
- Batteries required: 2 x AA (included) .

Replacement for identical ten year old predecessor
This was a direct replacement for an identical product that I had bought over ten years ago. During this time, the alarm proved 100% reliable and the only difference is that the new one takes two AA batteries instead of three. This is a quality product despite the low cost and is very easy to set up and periodically test.

Carbon monoxide detector.
I got this as a replacement for my last detector that had died. It is the same make, shape and size as the last one so fitting it was pretty simple. It is placed in the same spot as my last one, high up on the wall in the same room as my boiler.

Neat
This replaces a Kidde CO and smoke alarm. As I now have 2 smoke alarms on the ground floor, I only needed a CO alarm. Easy to set up, sits on a bookshelf.

Thanks for using Q&A
Hello Robert,
The Kidde Single Carbon Monoxide Alarm 700/1617 -The supplier advise -Carbon monoxide (CO) and combination alarms should be mounted in or near bedrooms and living areas, no closer than 20cm from the ceiling. If mounting on a ceiling, please make sure it is at least 20cm away from the wall. Because carbon monoxide is almost the same density as air, it will disperse evenly throughout the air in a room.
We recommend you install a carbon monoxide or combination alarm on each level of a multi-level home. If your home has only one CO or combination alarm, it should be installed in the main bedroom or in the hallway outside of the sleeping areas. Place the alarm at least 1.5m away from fuel-burning appliances. Make sure nothing is covering or obstructing the unit. Do not place the unit in dead air spaces or next to a window or door. CAUTION: Carbon Monoxide alarms will only indicate the presence of carbon monoxide at the sensor. Carbon monoxide may be present in other areas of your home
