That particular printer requires the HP 953 range of ink cartridges.

Looking into this ink cartridge, it will not fit the deskjet 2600. I believe that it is cartridge 304 that is needed. If you look where the ink cartridges go in your printer, on the left hand side there should be a small sticker stating what cartridge is needed.
