Great breadmaker
This breadmaker is fantastic and produces the most delicious bread! It is easy to use with a range of recipes. This particular model does not allow for the use of spelt flour but apart from that, there are plenty of recipes to choose from.

Very impressive
This is my first bread machine and I wish I’d bought one decades ago. It makes fantastic bread and it’s so easy to use. I’ve made bread by hand, but it’s messy and not easy in winter in my cold kitchen. There are a few aspects worth pointing out. Firstly, it does not have a rye bread programme. However, I successfully made a half rye half wheat wholemeal loaf using the wholemeal recipe, and a white rye loaf using the standard and rapid wholemeal programmes and quantities as per the rye and wheat recipe. I’ve settled on 3/4 wheat 1/4 rye wholemeal bread using the wholemeal bread recipe and programme. Secondly recipes mostly use butter, and if like me you can’t use butter, don’t worry, olive oil works fine, and I use mich less oil by weight. I also use less salt and sugar. Thirdly the sourdough starter recipe uses yoghurt, that’s no good for me. The sourdough programme simply keeps the inside at 25C so it can be used to grow a starter in the traditional manner. Fourthly, not all settings apply to all recipes. Thus the wholemeal loaf cannot be set to start at a predetermined time in the future. This is annoying. With some programmes there is only one loaf size. Lastly, it’s not the prettiest of machines. The main body looks like HDPE, and feels cheap. The LED has a thin flexible plastic film over it, which looks cheap and is not strong. And there are a few reports of the lid hinge breaking so I take care to be gentle with it. However, the inside of the oven and the baking tin look to be of good quality. I would assume that Panasonic of all people know how to make a bread machine that lasts.

Good, unnecessarily complex instr., tall, heavy.
Bought to replace an ancient "Miller's Choice" machine. The programs take longer than the old one. Tried it first time Christmas night to take advantage of Octopus overnight 7p/kWh. Worked perfectly. (Note: to do this, I had to get up at 05:45 to get the loaf out.) As others have said, it's very tall and heavy - not a problem as I have arranged the worktops so it stays out all the time. The instructions look very complicated and I'm not sure all the options are necessary. Basically it's flour, water, yeast, mix, cook :-). I ended up using the "raisin" "recipe" for my granary seeded loaf.... worked perfectly. There is a tiny diagram on one page of the instructions, with a tiny arrow showing how to insert/remove the tin. Good job my sister was on hand (she has the same machine, only older) to show me so that I didn't end up breaking it.

My dream bread machine
Have always wanted a Panasonic bread maker. So far it has lived up to my expectations. I made a basic white loaf using the recipe in the instruction book and it worked well. A little too sweet for me but that's personal taste. Going to try a wholemeal loaf and pizza dough next and then on to some Sourdough which I will use my San Francisco starter. I have made bread all my life but now, due to arthritis and a shoulder injury I cannot knead and mix anymore. So that's why I decided on the machine to help me to still eat nice homemade fresh bread but to take all the hard work away. Perfect!

Awful performance!
Bought this to replace my old Panasonic bread maker which was a great success, this machine however is awful! Failure after failure, very few good results from it. Don’t waste your money on this product, look elsewhere.

Too tall, awkward shape, They charge for returns
I have had several Panasonic Breadmakers over the years, I bought this one when our latest one broke while still in guarantee. But this one is huge, it's much taller than previous models, presumably because of the height of the nut dispenser, but also a different shape, much wider, which is very difficult in our small kitchen and heavy too, I have to lift it op on top of a cupboard for storage. So I decided to return it on the day it arrived, not used at all, but was very surprised when Panasonic charged me for the return postage which is not reasonable when you buy online and cannot see or handle the product before buying. Also, unlike other companies, Panasonic require you to telephone to make the return, which is very time-consuming and annooying. So I will not buy direct from Panasonic again.

Good bread machine, but...
Good bread machine. Only used it 4 times for basic bread at the moment. Plan to try jam and banana bread. The only complaint I have which for me personally I find extremely annoying, is the way they do the size of the loaf. Rather than a 500g, 1lb or 1.5lb loaf they do it medium, large and extra large. Which makes it very difficult to work out the amount of ingredients I need from the recipes I use in my cook book, which all go on the weight of the loaf.

Hello, from the information we have available, this Panasonic SD-R2530KXC Automatic Breadmaker doesn’t use a Paddle, it uses a kneading blade instead. The manual states this can sometimes come out in the bread, so always remove the kneading blade before slicing the bread. Thank you for using Argos Q&A.
