Morphy Richards 108274 Hive Kettle - White 945/6662 I can advise that steam can escape from the easy fill hole at the top on the lid as well as the spout. This easy fill hole is a design feature of this item and therefore not able to be closed.

The base is 15.5cm diameter.
The base tapers in as it goes down, so the diameter of the top of the base is slightly bigger than the diameter of the bottom of the base. Bottom of base diameter 15cm.
