When cooked the texture of the bread is very dense on every recipe I have tried to date including sourdough french and basic loafs Older Panasonic bread maker produced better lighter bread . So some what disappointed

Great Bread Machine - easy to use
This is the second bread machine we have bought, an upgrade from the basic one we bought a good few years ago though after the first few uses sat in a cupboard. We have been making bread in the oven since lockdown but alarmed at the electricity cost decided to buy another. Not disappointed uses much less electricity easy to program on our EV overnight tariff. Bread is excellent nice crust, soft texture loaf is quite small but for two of us lasts a couple of days after that it's quite dry but ok for toast. So far made four wholemea loaves all, consistent size and quality. Going to experiment some more, crumpets next on the list. Usual great service from local Argos store ordered online, competitive price, collected next day at our convenience.

Disappointed
Bought to replace previous Panasonic bread maker because the coating of the bread bin failed after only 6 years. Hoping this one won’t. So far used twice, during the heatwave here in England, when the temperature in my kitchen can reach 32C. Bread crust very brown both times. Spelt loaf was disappointing because it was moist in patches throughout and I bought this model because it does have a spelt setting. Sandwich loaf was excellent however, with a close, firm texture. Will be making a granary loaf next, although as there is no recipe for it in the booklet I will use the recipe I am familiar with. It will also be interesting to see if there is a difference in the loaf when cooked in cooler temperatures. Not a fan of the two part plastic lid, which feels flimsy and unstable when open. I do prefer the landscape orientation of the bread maker, making it easier to use. Very Poor recipe book compared with previous model; very few recipes in the booklet, if you want more you have to download and print off. I have kept my previous recipe booklet which has everything I need in it. So far I am not as happy with this machine as I have been with the two previous Panasonic bread makers. Hopefully, as I use it more my opinion will change.

It is perfectly possible to add the yeast directly in with the ingredients - add first, before the flour - but the manufacturer recommends using the dispenser.
Bread mixes, containing all ingredients, work extremely well.

The automatic yeast dispenser is there as it's designed to add the yeast automatically as the correct point in the programme to ensure the best results. For some programmes on it, you may not get successful results unless you did use it.
It is possible to use a bread mix with your yeast in already though by just adding water and then pressing the relevant button to start the required programme. The appliance does come with a little measuring spoon for the smaller ingredients, e.g. yeast, salt, sugar, etc.
