Good features, but disappointing battery life.
I bought this a few weeks ago for clearing an overgrown allotment of mostly long grass. I found it fairly easy to assemble, although the instructions could have been a little clearer. I assembled it with the strimming attachment, then tried switching it to the brush cutting attachment. I found it fairly straightforward. I have only actually used the strimmer attachment in practice on my allotment so far, but I like that I have the option of brush cutter should the brambles get to be a problem at any point. I have found the operation of the grass trimmer to be quite easy as long as you follow the advice given with long grass - to take it down in stages. It is not too heavy for me. The thing I’ve found a little disappointing is the amount of time the batteries last. I’ve found they are giving me only around 15-20 minutes of power. However I do think this could be seen as a positive, ensuring I don’t overdo it and get a bad back! I guess I could extend my time with a second set of batteries, but it’s not as long as I’d been led to believe from the listing. The batteries take around 2 hours to charge up, and be sure to take them out of the charger when they are done, don’t just turn it off and leave them in or they discharge themselves as I found out!

OK but not as expected.
It was difficult tio follow the set-up instructions but we eventually managed it. The batteries do not last as long as promised but overall it does the brush cutting. Trimmer chord is not hard wearing.

Great grass trimmer
I bought this a month ago for my allotment and is working great. Easy to put together and the battery is working for 30-40 minutes. Very efficient battery and very easy to use. Charge in about 1 hour.

Great bit of kit!
We got this to cut back brambles that was growing through from a neighbouring field into our garden. The field has been lying fallow for years and has not been cut since the last owner passed away. This trimmer using the brush cutter did the job with no issues at all!

As the Argos rep says, the angle of the head cannot be changed.
There is a picture in the item listing showing that it can, but the picture is wrong and should be removed - it even has the wrong colour, orange, on the head in the picture.
Hello there. The Spear & Jackson 23cm Cordless Grass Trimmer - 36V does not have an angle changer but there are two heads to the unit has an extra-wide 32cm cutting width and the brush cutter is a fixed 23cm wide blade designed for even tougher jobs. It is advised to not use the Spear & Jackson Cordless Grass Trimmer & Brush Cutter - 36V on wet grass as the grass sticks to the cutting means and guard, preventing proper discharge of grass clippings. It is also a slip hazard.
