About this product
Your thermostat controls 60% of your energy bill. So shouldn't it help you save energy? The Nest Learning Thermostat does. It gets to know the temperature that you like while you're at home, and turns itself down when you're away. It even learns how your home warms up or how draughty it is, so it only uses the energy that it needs. Now the Nest Thermostat does something new, called Farsight. It will light up to tell you the temperature, weather or time. You can also control your hot water tank with the Nest Thermostat.
Google Nest compared with thermostats running at a constant temperature. Energy savings are not guaranteed and depend on energy usage, weather, and other factors.
The Nest App shows you how much energy you use every day in Energy History, and every month in your Home Report. So you can see when you use more energy, such as at the weekend or Monday nights, and how to use less.

Had to get an engineer to install which is a pain as added cost but really like having the unit in the house. Would be even better if 2 people could have the ap on their phone - bit backward that only 1 member of the house hold can have it

This device is easy to connect but my device is not showing actual room temperature. About 6-8 degC more than the actual room temperature. I am not sure the device is faulty or some kind of wall mounting causing this issue. Happy with Argos Click and Collect service.

I have the Nest Thermostat for 3 weeks now and is really great. It does everything is says on the package. Just a recommendation, call for an engineer, it looks easy but the device is sensitive, it picking up everything. If there is a voltage that is not in normal parameters, he will not communicate properly with the central heating or if you have a boiler. It does work with hot water, you just can't give any commands to google assistant to start your hot water (boiler version).

The Google Nest Learning 3rd Generation Thermostat is compatible with various heating systems, including electric heaters. This does require installation by a qualified fitter who can give you more advice with your particular heating system.

Nest devices are reported as being compatible with a variety of radiator valves, including smart thermostatic radiator valves (Smart TRVs).
You would need to check the specific valves you are looking at to see if they are Smart TRVs.

I can advise the following for the Google Nest Learning 3rd Generation Thermostat - Steel:
Once it's connected to a google/nest account you just need to sign into that account on additional devices and it will show. Entering the code again will confuse the system as only one account can be linked at any given time.

Having checked, yes this does require mains power. It can be plugged in to a mains supply or it can be wired where your previous thermostat was using the original cable. It needs to be installed by a qualified professional.

Mine is powered by the same wires that used to power our old thermostat, it’s a must if you want it to be wall mounted.

The base plates are not interchangeable between the 2nd and 3rd generation of Nest Thermostats. You will need to remove the 2nd gen plate and install the 3rd generation. Or locate a 2nd Gen Thermostat from an alternative source.
