Fiddly, but worth it!
Bought to replace an LED one that had failed. Pleased with the end result. Blooming fiddly trying to reach up balancing the chrome ring, the glass, and trying to place them over three spindles whilst trying to push on plastic washers and then turn one of the nuts without dropping anything. But great when done!!

Exactly what I wanted
My electrician fitted this the other day. It looks great - simple but attractive, and gives a good light. The best feature is that the bulb is NOT integrated, so when it dies you can simply change the bulb yourself, instead of having to buy a completely new fitting.

The answer from Argos seems mistaken.
Surely any lamp i.e. bulb with the correct ES27 Edison Screwv fitting will be compatible with this light fixture as long as it generates no more heat than what the manufacturer specified as the maximum Wattage and so long as it fits comfortably inside the light fitting. If a led bulb and a halogen one both consume electricity at the same rate or Watts, the led will generate less heat.

"The shade diffuser is held onto the base by a circular frame which is screwed in.
Unscrewing the frame will release it and the diffuser to reveal the bulb inside.
This item uses 1 x MAX 10W ES GLS bulb."

“ Yes however not in a bathroom as IP rating not guaranteed if affixed to a wall.
Also if affixing to a wall, care should be taken to ensure bulb is pointing upwards. ”

I think your old tubular bulb is what is called a 2D bulb. I had to replace my old ceiling light as 2D 4pin 55W no longer on the market - a 2D 28W bulb wouldnt work with the old light. This new ditting and bulb is not very bright! Wish I had bought a different one. Cost me 50 for electrician to install the fitting!
