Split hose
Bought the spot wash last year, the hose split after two uses. I did contact vax but as I did not have my receipt I could not be helped, quite disappointed as it was relatively good before it split. It also cannot be used with tape around the hose as it just leaks. The spotwash just sits in a cupboard unused now.

Vax Spot Wash - CDCW-CS-XS
In August 2023 I purchased the VAX Spot Wash Home Pet-Design, unfortunately the hose has split. I have now purchased the CDCW-CS-XS (red one) I would highly recommend this product and I appreciate the 'hose self-clean port', which stops the smell from the pipe and removes all the debris into the dirty water tank so it can all be flushed away.

Upright carpet cleaners are designed for larger areas, to deep clean entire rooms.

I can advise that this can be used on older stains. I would recommend obtaining and correctly diluting the Vax carpet cleaner solution, spraying the stain with the carpet cleaner, using the scrapper end to work the solution into the stain and then letting it soak in for 5-10 minutes before then going over it. You may have to repeat this several times. Some very dark or very old stains may not come out entirely.
