So much better than i was expecting
Having over the past years bought so many pairs of reasonably priced earbuds, i thought it time to buy a more upmarket pair to try. Once upon a time reviews actually meant something but now given they are everywhere and written by some people that give bad reviews because they couldn’t open the box or just turned them on and shoved them in without taking the time read and set up the item i found very mixed accounts of what these earbuds actually perform like. So i chose Bose as i have always held them in high regard as a manufacturer that understands sound. I purchased the QC ultra 2nd gen and set up from the app on my iphone was very simple, a good walk through was given and explanation of each function was given clearly and informative. I was in the car setting them up as the excitement couldn’t wait until I got home, the aircon was on full blast and the radio was about mid volume. When i put them in for the first time i heard the little ding that they use to basically read your ear shape and adjust the sound somehow, then….. nothing the car was silent. I actually thought the car had stopped. I took them out and the cars mixture of fan noise and radio filled my ears again….. i was gob smacked! Yes these are the first things i have ever had with noise cancelling and i was amazed. I put them back in, let them activate the NC and sat for a minute or two enjoying the silence. I selected my first track and pressed play, the sound was very clear and crisp but then i used the equaliser on the app to adjust the bass, mid and treble, now the sound was for want if a better word, simply “amazing” for something so small. AC/DC had never sounded so good in my ears, a bit of playing with the immersive and aware settings then the stereo types and i was a very happy man. The last thing i did was try all three different supplied in ear cups and outer bands that hold lock them in place in the ridge of the ear. I found large ear cups and level 2 bands were perfect, a great seal in the canal and no movement when shaking the head. Very very comfortable, previous cheaper ones have made my ears ache and the silicone cups made my ears itch after a while. The quality and thoughtful design of the Bose ones were still comfortable at the end of 5hrs of listening. I found no issues with connectivity, dropping out, sound quality or comfort. Oh and the box was easy to open too. Best thing i purchased for some time.

Very comfortable
Very comfortable. Always struggled to find a set of buds that don't hurt my ears. I have no issue with that with these buds and they are very stable so need little readjustment when wearing. The sound and noise cancelling is great. And the call quality is also very good. Would recommend.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen)
These earbuds have an excellent noise cancelling facility, however the app only works with Android 13 or above. As I bought my phone 4 years ago the app will not work. It is disappointing that Bose was so short-sighted in developing an app that needs a more recent version of Android - Windows 11 will run apps that I bought several years ago and Bose should ensure their apps do the same. For this reason, I won't buy any more devices from Bose that require an app. The app is why I've only given a 3 star rating.

Still the best and most comfortable noise cancelling buds on the market. Long battery life. A lot of different soundscapes. Bose are the best out there. Also a great price from Argos.
