It is very narrow and would need to be secured to the wall, but there is no reason why it cannot be used as a desk. As for chairs, with the height available of 77.5 cms, any of the many chairs available would be able to be used.

hello there Kel the bars at the back are supporting bars and serve to provide the console table with some stability. If you remove them or dont add them in then, the stability cannot be guaranteed. if you could perhaps find a way to secure the console table to the wall that may go a long way in making it safer. however, modification will void the guarantee.
