Bought as a spare charger for my Samsung phone but it only lasted a couple of weeks. Took it back and swapped for another charger which again failed after a couple of weeks. Sticking to original charger now and using my bulky chromebook charger as backup. No issues with either of these.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the 25W USB-C Mains Charger and USB-C Cable - Black: it’s probably not a great match — a 25 W USB-C mains charger is unlikely to be “compatible” with TCL 4042S in the sense of functioning correctly at full 25 W power.
The manufacturer specs for the TCL 4042S list its supported charger output as 5.0 V at 0.55 A (≈ 2.75 W).
That’s a very modest charging requirement — far below what a 25 W “fast charger” delivers. That means the phone will likely only draw what it needs (≈ 2.75 W), and the 25 W charger’s extra capacity won’t be used.
Your TCL 4042S will just charge slowly and at its normal rate.
