Customers Say
The AEG extractor hood effectively removes odors and fumes with powerful performance. However, it can be quite noisy at higher settings and has some usability issues with the hob connectivity and cleaning.

Powerful but noisy
AEG claims this extractor hood will “remove any lingering unpleasant odours and fumes from your kitchen effortlessly and silently, thanks to its super quiet breeze technology, and powerful energy-efficient motor.” I can agree with the first part—it definitely removes odours and fumes effectively. Cooking fish used to leave a lingering smell with our old extractor, but this one handles it much better. However, the “silent” operation claim doesn’t quite hold up. On the lowest setting, it's relatively quiet, but on anything higher—especially the second setting—it sounds more like a light aircraft starting up! I didn’t expect complete silence, but the noise level is noticeably high beyond the first speed. We’re using it in extractor mode (not re-circulation), though I don’t think that should affect the noise level significantly. We don’t have an AEG hob, so I can’t comment on the hob-to-hood connectivity. As for the LED lighting, I haven’t noticed it adjusting to the ambient lighting in the kitchen. It might be more noticeable at night, or perhaps there’s a manual setting to enable it—but if so, I haven’t found it. Cleaning has been a bit frustrating. I’ve struggled to get the surface streak-free, and after only a couple of weeks of use (with daily cooking), the warning light has already come on to clean the filters which I feel is a little soon. Oh and it doesn't come with any ducting kit at all, this has to be purchased separately. I would recommend this if you are looking for something powerful but not if you want something quiet.

Love the Hob2Hood
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very pleased with this extractor. Very pleased with the Hob2Hood function whereby it works automatically with the hob. We have it on the recycling function as we have a heat recovery system installed. Little noisy if on full but I tend use the low functions on the hob so it stays quite quiet.

Our specifications only state a minimum height above a hob:
Minimum Distance from Electric Hob (cm) 50
Minimum Distance from Gas Hob (cm) 65
There is no maximum height as that will depend on the design of the kitchen. But we advise that efficiency may be affected the higher a cooker hood is installed.
The installation guide is available to download from the appliance's page on our website under the 'Documents For Product' tab: https://www.aeg.co.uk/kitchen/cooking/cooker-...
The AEG DKB5660HM cooker hood supports both ducted extraction and recirculation modes. However, the maximum ducting length for external venting is not explicitly listed in the product specifications or manuals.
That said, AEG and most manufacturers typically recommend the following for optimal performance in ducted mode:
Maximum ducting length: Around 10 metres, but this depends on the number of bends and the type of ducting used.
Ducting diameter: Should be 150 mm (6 inches) to match the hood’s outlet.
Each 90° bend: Reduces effective duct length by approximately 1.5 metres.
Each 45° bend: Reduces it by about 1 metre.
To ensure the best performance and avoid excessive noise or reduced airflow, it's ideal to:
Use smooth, rigid ducting rather than flexible.
Keep the duct run as short and straight as possible.
Avoid reducing the duct diameter.
For the AEG DKB5660HM cooker hood, the plug should typically be fitted with a 13 amp fuse. This is standard for most kitchen appliances in the UK that are connected via a regular plug, especially those with motors and lighting components like cooker hoods.
The AEG DKB5660HM cooker hood has three standard extraction speeds plus one intensive mode, with the following approximate extraction rates:
🌬️ Extraction Rates:
Speed 1: ~175 m³/h
Speed 2: ~352 m³/h
Speed 3: ~500–550 m³/h (not always explicitly listed, but inferred from typical progression)
Intensive Mode: 779 m³/h
These values allow you to adjust the ventilation power based on your cooking intensity—from simmering to heavy frying.
The AEG DKB5660HM cooker hood features an intensive extraction mode that is designed as a temporary boost function. According to the product specifications:
It has 3 standard speed settings plus an Intensive mode.
The Intensive mode provides a maximum extraction rate of 779 m³/h.
This mode is not designed to stay on indefinitely—it typically runs for a limited time (usually around 5–10 minutes) before automatically reverting to a lower speed 1.
So, to answer your question directly: the intensive extraction mode does not have a button to keep it on permanently. It's a temporary boost meant for short bursts of high ventilation, such as when you're frying or searing food.

To clean the filters, you can follow these steps:
Remove the filters: Locate and carefully remove the filters from the range hood.
Soak in warm, soapy water: Let the filters soak for about 10-15 minutes to loosen any grease and debris.
Scrub gently: Use a soft brush or sponge to scrub away any remaining residue.
Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the filters under warm water to remove all soap.
Dry completely: Allow the filters to air dry completely before reinstalling them.
Regular cleaning will help keep your range hood functioning efficiently. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
The AEG DKB5660HM chimney hood offers several advantages:
Effective Extraction: The DKB5660HM is equipped with a powerful, energy-efficient motor designed to effectively reduce kitchen odours and moisture. This should help keep your kitchen air clean and dry.
Noise Levels: The DKB5660HM is designed to operate quietly, ensuring a more pleasant cooking environment.
Design and Functionality: The DKB5660HM combines sleek aesthetics with practical functionality, making it a great addition to any kitchen,
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your cooker hood and induction hob setup. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the Connection: Ensure that the hob-to-hood connection is properly set up according to the user manual. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause communication issues.
Power Cycle: Try turning off both the hob and the cooker hood, then turn them back on. This can sometimes reset the connection.

Yes, the AEG DKB5660HM model can be used as an outward-exhausting range hood. It supports both ducted (outward-exhausting) and recirculating modes. In ducted mode, the hood vents cooking vapors and odors outside through an external pipe, effectively removing heat and smells from your kitchen
Yes, you can install the AEG DKB5660HM for internal recirculation without using the full chimney. This model is designed to be flexible and can be adjusted to fit various kitchen configurations. Given your space of 53cm from the top of your tiles to the ceiling, you can install the hood without the full chimney extension.
Make sure to follow the installation instructions in the manual to ensure proper setup and optimal performance.
