Mine came with the spring already fitted, no assembly required. But then the spring fell out a couple of weeks later - I assume into the bin and thrown away - so the lid stopped opening. Got a replacement bin and the new one also had spring already fitted, so I would say that’s how it’s supposed to come

I have been struggling to fit the spring back if someone could help me how to fix it back

Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know

the bin should have two springs. One either side at the back of the lid.

It’s just one spring, otherwise the wedge that holds the bin closed might not handle the tension. My spring came off once after i dropped the lid but it was easy to fit it back in.

I would advise that this works by simply pressing the button and the bin lid will open - so it would indeed open if the cat jumped on the button.
