Hello Sue,
The supplier has advised the following for the John Adams Edible Science:
"Edible Science is suitable for vegetarians, however, if vegetarian ingredients are used in the experiments, we cannot guarantee the results will be the same as regular ingredients. The measure of ingredients required for the experiments may also differ from those listed."
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi Ka,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the John Adams Edible Science: I believe unflavoured gelatine can be used as a substitute for agar agar, however it will be harder to use correctly in the experiments than using agar agar.
The method also has to change slightly, because agar agar can be used in a cold liquid and heated to thicken, whereas the gelatine has to added to a hot liquid or it will not thicken.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q & A
Hi there,
Although this does not require a microwave some of the recipes will require liquid to be heated in a pan by an adult.
Thanks for using Q&A
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised: The experiments were developed using standard gelatin. However vegetarian gelatin could be used but we cannot guarantee the results of the experiments.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi there,
I can confirm the ingredients will need to purchased separately. The recipes included do not require peanuts. For full details please see the user manual on the link below:

Thanks for using Q&A
Depends on child but my 8 year old found the recipes hard to make and takes a lot of waiting for things to set ect which was annoying.
Hi there,
Sorry for any confusion. Having checked this is suitable for ages 8 years and over only.
Thanks for using Q&A
Yes we had to buy about 10 pounds worth of extra ingredients to do the experiments. Feel like some ingredients should be included for the price.
Hi Sarah Jane,
Each recipe will require a few additional ingredients. For full details please see the user manual on the link below:
