Amazing boost to wifi
This has been a huge help with improving WiFi on the other side of the house.

My First Wifi Mesh System
I purchased this kit to replace some un reliable wifi extenders. I wasn't sure whether this mesh system would be any better, however I am rather impressed with this system. Set up was straight forward and the kit does what it says on the box. I have a couple of devices that wouldn't connect to my routers wifi when dual band was enabled but after setting up TP- Link and disabling my routers wifi, everything connected flawlessly on dual band. I've only had the system for a fortnight, but so far I've had no issues whatsoever. The Deco app is simple to use and has all the information required to allow monitoring of the home network.

Tp link Deco
Brilliant bit of kit, just plug one unit in to mains and ethernet cable to a router and the rest is set up on the app. So easy, fast and reliable WiFi around my house. So pleased I purchased this make as it was recommended to me.

Brilliant signal
This is the second set we have brought to expand our WiFi we have one in every room including the summer house at the back of our garden and the signal is perfect

Works really well
I bought this product to provide WiFi to my garden room, around 10 metres from the back of my house. WiFi box is on the other side of the house but the mesh system provides easy access to WiFi where it's neede

Excellent bit of kit
Purchased a few weeks back, easy to set up gives a powerful WiFi signal and the app is well laid out. Renamed each device (client as they call it)) as I paired them. So dead easy to see what’s connected to what. If you don’t do that you end up with a list of meaningless numbers letters and symbols. Set the units up one at a time.

Now getting WiFi throughout the house easy to set up

It’s a good bit of kit
I’m very happy with them

Didn’t work
I wouldn’t bother with this. I tried to get a signal to an outbuilding located 10ft at the back of the house but the signal is next to useless

Hello There
After contacting our suppliers they have advised for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack.
A) All Deco units in a mesh network share the same SSID (network name), and by default, this includes both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Directly separating these bands into different SSIDs is not supported. However, there is a workaround:
Open the Deco App and go to More > Wi-Fi Settings. Disable the 2.4GHz band for the main network.
Navigate to More > IoT Network, enable the IoT network, and set it to 2.4GHz only.
This setup results in a 5GHz-only main network and a 2.4GHz-only IoT network, ideal for devices that require specific band connections.
If your Deco model doesn’t support the IoT network feature, you can create a 2.4GHz-only Guest Network instead via More > Guest Network.
For Deco models supporting 6GHz Wi-Fi, the 6GHz network has a separate SSID by default. You can rename it to match the main network, but note that roaming on 6GHz operates independently.
B) Most Deco models allow you to set connection preferences for individual devices:
If a device connects to a distant Deco unit instead of the nearest one, you can set a preferred Deco for that device.
If high-speed devices (e.g., phones, laptops) connect to the 2.4GHz band instead of 5GHz/6GHz, you can set a preferred frequency for them.
If the “Connection Preferences” option isn’t available for a device, your Deco model may not support it. As an alternative, you can disable Mesh for that device to prevent roaming between Deco units.
C) Speed performance depends on several factors:
Your internet plan from the ISP.
The connection type between Deco units (wired vs. wireless).
Placement and distance between units, especially in a two-storey house.
In general, wirelessly connected secondary Deco units (especially the second and third ones) may experience reduced speeds due to signal degradation and interference. For optimal performance, placing Deco units strategically and using Ethernet backhaul where possible is recommended.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello There
After contacting our suppliers they have advised for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack.
No, you don’t need a separate router. The Deco M4 is fully capable of acting as your primary router. You only need an external modem (e.g. from your ISP) to connect to the internet.
You can optionally configure it in Access Point Mode if you want to keep or have your existing router with you already.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Neil D,
I can advise the following for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack:
Decos are only compatible with other decos.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello May,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack:
Yes, Deco M4 is compatible with both BT and Trooli—just use it behind their router (unless you're using a DSL-specific Deco), disable the ISP Wi‑Fi, and run it in router or AP mode. A 3-pack should cover your 300 m² home fine, and no extra boosters are necessary unless you have stubborn zones.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Riley,
The supplier has advised the following for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack:
The TP-Link Deco M4 mesh Wi-Fi system can definitely help improve Wi-Fi coverage in your flat, but it’s important to understand what it can and can’t do regarding speed.
What Deco M4 Does Well: Fixes Wi-Fi Dead Zones. If your current router’s signal is weak in parts of your flat (even if the internet itself is OK), Deco M4 can greatly improve Wi-Fi signal and consistency by creating a mesh network across the flat.
Better Wi-Fi Coverage: Even in flats with thick walls or awkward layouts, Deco M4 spreads Wi-Fi better than most basic routers or extenders.
Stable Connections: It maintains a stable connection as you move around your home. (Important: It Won’t Increase Your Internet Plan’s Speed).
If the actual speed coming into your flat from your broadband provider (via the wall socket or router) is low, Deco M4 can’t boost that - it only distributes what you’re getting from the router. Example: If your broadband gives only 5 Mbps, Deco M4 will just spread that 5 Mbps around your flat. But if your Wi-Fi signal is poor (say you only get 2 Mbps in some rooms because of bad coverage), Deco M4 might help you get the full 5 Mbps everywhere.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi Lisa,
If this is the first time your devices connect to the new network, then yes, all devices wil need to be manually connect to the mesh network.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello SP,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System - 3 Pack: ''The TP-Link Deco M4 mesh system does advertise coverage of up to 4,000 sq. ft. (approximately 370 m²) with a 2-pack, but that’s total area, not the linear range from the first (main) Deco unit.
Estimated Real-World Range (Distance)
From the main Deco M4 unit connected via LAN to your modem/router:
*2.4 GHz band:
-Indoors: ~20–30 meters (65–100 ft)
-Line of sight: up to 50 meters (160 ft)
*5 GHz band:
-Indoors: ~10–20 meters (33–65 ft)
-Line of sight: up to 30 meters (100 ft)
How the Mesh Works
Each Deco unit connects to the next, passing the signal like a baton. The key distance is the spacing between Deco units:
*For optimal performance, Deco units should be placed no more than 10–15 meters (33–50 ft) apart, especially with walls or interference.
*Too far apart, and the second unit will get a weak signal—leading to slow speeds and instability.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi Nick,
If you already have a router or hub installed, you can still integrate Deco into your network.
Tips for Setup:
1. Deco units cannot operate as Wi-Fi range extenders or repeaters to connect wirelessly to an existing router. However, if you have multiple Deco units, the satellite Deco units can connect to the main Deco wirelessly.
2. To prevent double NAT issues, it’s advisable to set Deco to Access Point Mode (AP mode). Router Mode is also an option if necessary.
3. While it’s recommended to use a different Wi-Fi name for Deco compared to your existing router, you can choose to use the same name if you prefer.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Dave,
A Deco M4 three-pack delivers Wi-Fi to an area of up to 4,000 square feet. And if that’s not enough, simply add more Decos to the network anytime to increase coverage.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Zach,
Deco can only form a seamless mesh network with other deco devices. To connect to the internet, the main Deco unit must be linked to your internet source (like a modem, router, or wall port) using an Ethernet cable. If you already have a router or hub installed, you can still integrate Deco into your network.
Thanks for using Q&A.
