Customers Say
Lightweight, easy-to-use steam iron with good steam function and quick heating. Some find the cord short and water tank visibility poor. Generally good value and effective on creases.

Dashing away with a steaming iron through creases!
Bought the updated model of my old steam iron. Perfect and not too heavy for a two hours pile of ironing. Steams beautifully through the creases!

Russell Hobbs speed glide Great Iron
For the price I found this iron brilliant. I only have to use heating setting 1 or 2 and it’s so much better than my old iron. I love the steam functions and lets hope the built in descaler works, which I will test in 1 month x

Love it.
Our second iron stopped working after lots of use, bit because it was lovely to hold while ironing, steam took the creases out of jeans, shirts and beding, but beause I took out insurance with it, got it delivered to us, on the day I wanted, also took out insurance on the new iron, money is tight when you live on a pension ans don't always have £20+ spare if it packs up.

Smooth ironing. Heats quickly for steaming. Glides well giving a precise finish.

Again I am smoothing like a diva!
This iron is so much better than our previous iron, which had broken. Will be able to comment further in 15 years - which is how long our previous iron survived.

Hello Mason,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Russell Hobbs 23970 Speedglide PRO Steam Iron: silk can be ironed, but it should always be done with care. We recommend using the lowest heat setting (one dot) and avoiding the steam function when ironing silk.
For best results, the garment should be slightly damp or ironed using a pressing cloth placed between the iron and the fabric to prevent shine or damage.
It’s also a good idea to test the iron on a small, inconspicuous area first and to always follow the care label instructions on the garment.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hi Shaz,
Our supplier has advised, you may use the iron with tap-water, but if you live in a hard water area, you should use distilled water (not chemically descaled or softened water).
If you buy distilled water, check that it’s suitable for use in irons.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for using Q&A
Can use tap water, but generally better to use distilled or bottled water to prolong life.
