This would be up to yourself. The lights are 38.7cm in height from the top to the bottom of the stake so it depends how far into the ground you want to push them.

Yes you actually can do this. I've just checked mine and they take a AAA rechargeable battery. They are good quality Solar lights.

The Garden by Sainsbury’s Colour Change Solar Lights - pack of 18, require solar charging before their first use. To achieve a full charge, they need 8 hours of direct sunlight exposure.
If the switch is set to off, the lights will not charge. Therefore, ensure that the switch is in the on position during the day to allow solar charging.

For the Garden by Sainsbury's Colour Change Solar Lights -Pack of 18.
These have integrated bulbs so you do not need to buy bulbs, they are already included.
You do not need to purchased batteries either. The battery is recharged via the solar panel for each light. You just need to place them in the ground and let them charge up. You don't need to buy anything else.
