Hi.. yes they do but you can also switch the lights off and keep the fan on .. hope this helps.
On mine, there is a button to turn the lights out, think the button is labelled as 'dim'. I think this is a great fan.
The remote control has an option to turn the lights off so it can be completely dark. However if you loose the remote like we have done, your only option is to cover the display with something!
You would just need to push in the catch and slide the back off.
Thanks for using Argos Q&A
On the left hand side it’s like a catch and then slides out
I think it may be faulty , mine has been off and on for over two weeks and is fine , don’t think you can do much about the noise I would try and change it for another one
Hi San, I am sorry to hear that the fan is noisy. If it's only on a high speed then I would assume something has become dislodged inside. In the first instance I would recommend returning to your point of sale. Thank you
Yes, the LED display shows the current settings and room temperature and should change temperature as the fan stays on. If you think it's faulty please return it.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Argos Q & A
Yes it reads the temperature of the area it is working in.
Definitely changes as the air temp changes as now at 28c and 8pm on very hot evening
The Dimplex Ion Fresh Cooling Tower Fan will create a breeze using the air that is in your room. It also has an ioniser to help remove impurities and create fresher cleaner air.
I hope this helps :)

No it doesn't cool the air, it is merely a fan which moves the air. You may feel cooler as the air movement helps evaporate the sweat from your body. In actual fact the fan, any fan, will add a small amount of heat to the room as the motor which drives it gets warm and the air flow takes the heat from the motor and into the room.
The air coming out feels a lot cooler but not sure if it actually cools the air, however makes air fresh I guess because of the Ion system it uses, the air is great, hope that helps, also useful remote control.
The base for the fan comes in two halves. Each is held on to the fan by two wing nuts. Each half is put on separately, the second half slides over the first half. Its not particularly fiddly if you lay the fan down and attach each half of the base that way.
The remote control is required to switch on the ION function, as the instructions state you CANNOT DO THIS USING THE CONTROL PANEL ON THE FAN. So if your remote fails, and mine did within 24 hours on the first fan i purchased, you cant switch the ION function. im on fan number 2...
If I recall it was basically attaching the base onto the tower. You can indeed use it without the remote as there are buttons on the top, but certain functions can't be chosen such as the ion function, and you can't turn off the display without the remote.
This fan is minimal assembly, really just putting the stand together around the cable. Yes, there are controls on the top of the fan so you can operate it without the remote if you want to. I hope this proves useful. This fan is really good and effective. I hope you get on well with it.
Hello, the assembly of the fan is just the base- it's in two parts and clicks in to place around the power cord and is then screwed in to the bottom of the fan. This could be a little bit fiddly for you so might be best to have someone help you hold it up. There are controls on the top of the fan, so using the remote is optional. Thank you for using Q&A
I put this together in 10 minutes. Only problem you may have is snapping the base together as it is quite tight. I found it easy though.
You can control this without the remote. You can use soft touch buttons on top of unit to operate it.
Personally, so far, I think this is a great fan. It has lasted longer that 3 much more expensive fans did. So far it seems very reliable.
Assembly is just the rounded plastic for its base. There are guide lines that shows where it needs to go and put in two screws. All control functions on the remote are also available on the fan.
The Dimplex Ion Fresh Cooling Tower Fan - Copper has a room temperature display only.

CR2025 for the remote, one battery. This is supplied but will eventually need replaced.
You will need one battery of type CR2025 for the remote control, a battery is supplied with the remote and from my experience it lasted longer than the remote...however you will need to replace one or other at some point...perhaps both!
Fan is mains powered only, really good fan.
This is mains operated.
