Design concerns
I chose this item as a similar one was out stock at IKEA. It was easy to put together but there was a very slight chip on the back which we hadn't noticed until it was assembled. It marks quite easily, and the upper shelf it's too far forward for you to be able to work effectively so we've had to push that further back . The chair is far too low for the desk height too.

I bought this small table and chair set to put in my 15 year old grandsons bedroom to do his homework on. The table needed to be assembled the chair didn't. Table was easy to assemble, my grandson done it himself.

Larger than I expected, had to cut it down to fit my space which was no problem. Basic little work station for bedroom corner just be sure to check depth of desk and space to fit.

Great desk and easy to assemble
I bought this desk so that I can work from my parents house when I visit them. It’s perfect for a laptop and separate display, keyboard and mouse. The chair is comfortable and the height of the desk is perfect. The desk can be packed down quickly if you need to move it elsewhere.

Only suitable for a small laptop computer
The desk is doing the job I bought it for, and I find the chair reasonably comfortable to sit on. However, I have left the top shelf off the desk in order to provide enough space for my laptop. So really this desk is only suitable for users of a small laptop - the type that doesn't include a disc drive for playing DVDs and CDs. On the plus side, I found the desk very easy to assemble. But I was somewhat puzzled by page 4 of the enclosed instructions entitled 'Tools required', which indicated that I would need 2 Phillips screwdrivers (small & medium); a rubber hammer, a ruler/tape measure and eye protection (when using a hammer or glue). In fact, none of these items are required, and you just need the Allen key and bolts provided to put it all together. There are no screws involved, and nothing that needs to be hammered or glued. NB I might possibly recommend this product to some people.

The bottom shelf is 52cm deep and the top shelf is 20cm deep so you will have about 30cm for your opened laptop.

the desk, does not fold.
The chair easily and happily folds away, but the table is solid and can't fold.

This is NOT a folding desk.
This is a permanent desk, set up all the time. It's about the same footprint as a good sized single chair.
If you did go for this as your desk, I wouldn't recommend it for workshop vices, small hobbyist style vices only.
