"The battery compartment is fitted with a screw, it can be opened with a mini screwdriver or a PH000 screwdriver."

Our supplier says "The scales do not show negative readings however, the only reason that a scale would show a negative value is when you add something to the weighing, then zero it and then remove it. It should show the negative weight of the things you were measuring."

I have checked with the supplier who confirms:

Salter High Capacity Scale 845/5121 is definitely Salter model 1160 BKDR and the Dimensions are 2 x 16.5 x 20cm

Have used for 5 months and have not changed 2x AAA batteries. I looked for batteries other than the CR2032 type as I was constantly changing batteries on a couple of digital scales using this type. The scale is very positive when selecting unit type and turning on and off. Very pleased with my purchase.

The scale does have a tare function, it's very flexible and easy to use. I've used it in the following ways:
* place container on scale, reset scale, add ingredient for weight
* reset with mixing bowl on scale, add flour, reset, add sugar, etc.
* reset with full bag of flour then scoop flour from bag to mixing bowl until reading e.g -250g
Very happy with the scale function.
