Customers Say
Easy to set up, good picture quality, and a great Sky Q replacement with recording features. Some users report minor teething issues and limited remote range, but overall highly recommended for Freesat TV.

Great bit of kit.
I was fed up of being ripped off by our regular satellite company for their recording box so decided to cancel my subscription and invest in one of these. Have to say, I'm REALLY pleased with it. Installing it was easy - 2 satellite connections, 1 x HDMI (same as the other box and a new power lead - done. Setting up was straightforward and using it is a breeze. Picture quality and sound quality are fine, remote control is good and learns the essentials for your TV too. It's reasonably responsive and records well - just as good as the old box. I just wish I could have got one sooner - it'd have saved me £thousands!

Simple to use
Was looking for a simple to use Sky box replacement for my mother and this perfectly fits the bill. Easy to set up and the handset and general interface are very similar to Sky's, making it much easier for my 82 year old mother to make the switch (and save herself a bomb!).

Not great
I ordered & collected the Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder within 30 minutes from Argos on Friday night. The setup was very easy & straightforward, everything worked fine that night. In the morning could not get any channels. Spent the next 2 hours trying everything even a factory reset but to no avail. Returned to Argos for full refund. I might try again in a few months when hopefully teething problems sorted out.

A bargain
Bought this to replace a broken Humax box. At around £100 cheaper than the Freesat and Humax it’s a bargain. Easy to set up with really easy to follow instructions and I’m a later in life person. Works well with good pictures and sound.

Excellent way with TV licence to get lots of TV.
Great box was easy to install once I setup TV correctly. Program guide superior to the built in TV one,. For the cost of a TV licence you get lots of TV, good quality pictures, not that can be said for all the programs but the screen quality high.

Improved Freesat provision.
Purchased to replace Humax 1100s, which failed to record after many years use and replacement is no longer available. The Manhattan appears to be an improvement especially when using the on demand programmes, which are on line and in higher resolution. The only negative is lack of phono sockets and means of setting switch on and off time. Very pleased.

Hello Billy,
I can advise the Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder remote control will not work on Bluetooth.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Yes,works fine on my skyQ dish.
Hello Nel,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder: ''The S4-R will work with a Sky Q dish without any issues. That said, to give a full answer on how many channels it can record simultaneously, we need to know which type of LNB is fitted to the Sky Q dish. If it's the Wideband type, the S4-R can record up to 4 channels simultaneously.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello there.
The Manhattan S4-R Freesat 4K TV Recorder is designed to work effectively with the remote control even if the box is placed behind the TV in a media wall setup.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hello Daisy.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder.
The main difference between the Manhattan T4‑R and S4‑R models is the type of TV signal they use: the S4‑R is designed for Freesat and connects to a satellite dish, while the T4‑R is designed for Freeview and connects to a standard TV aerial, with both offering similar 4K recording and smart features.
Thank you for using Q & A.
The T4-R is Freeview so it requires and connects to either a rooftop aerial or, in high quality reception areas, even an indoor aerial.
The S4-R is Freesat so it requires and connects to a satellite dish - the dish pointed towards pointing at the Astra 28.2E satellite. If you used to have Sky HD or Sky Q then its the same dish and the S4-R will work with both types of dish.
Yes. For this Freesat Receiver you do need a satellite dish pointed at Astra satellites at 28.2 East, an aerial will not do!
If you already have a dish in place that previously connected to a Sky HD box or a Sky Q box then this S4-R model will work perfectly. Note other models may not support Sky Q dishes, this one does.
Hello there.
The supplier has confirmed. The Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder does not require a satellite dish. It can connect to existing Freesat or Sky satellite cables, allowing you to enjoy over 100 channels without needing a separate satellite dish.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hello there,
The supplier has advised the following for the Manhattan S4-R 500GB Freesat 4K TV Recorder:
Yes, they are included and start at index 700.
Thank you for using Q and A.
No
Hello,
Thanks for getting in touch with us, the router, will need to be plugged in when in use from the back to a wall socket for power. It will then be able to connect to the TV by wifi/internet or if you wish, you can connect it by cable instead for the internet to the router.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Yes WiFi supported or you can connect with an ethernet cable.
One of the big attractions for Freesat over Freeview and the S4-R is the additions of ITV 2, 3 and 4, ITV Quiz being in HD plus there are a few more HD channels over the 5 you get with Freeview including most, but not all, of the news channels.
Number of none HD channels are getting towards a hundred though Im not counting.
You get around 80 TV 20 Radio stations
