AEG - Cooker Hood
I have been using only for few weeks, so far no issues.

For the AEG DBX3651R cooker hood, if you want to use it in recirculating mode, you only need a charcoal (carbon) filter—not a full recirculation kit.
Here’s why:
The DBX3651R is designed to support both ducted extraction and recirculation.
In recirculation mode, the hood captures cooking vapours, passes them through a charcoal filter, and then recirculates clean air back into the kitchen. There’s no need for additional ducting or a conversion kit for this model.
The charcoal filter should be replaced every 3–12 months, depending on usage.
A recirculation kit is typically required only for models that are originally ducted and need conversion to ductless operation (it usually includes vents and filters). Since the DBX3651R already supports recirculation, you just need the charcoal filter.
The AEG DBX3651R cooker hood can be installed in two ways:
Ducted (Extraction Mode):
Connects to an external vent so cooking fumes are expelled outside. This is the most effective method for removing humidity and odors.
Recirculating Mode:
If external ducting isn’t possible, you can use an optional charcoal filter to clean the air and recirculate it back into the kitchen. This requires installing the filter inside the hood.
So, it does not have to be ducted—it supports both ducted and recirculating installation options.
Thanks for the details, Andrew! Here's what I found regarding the AEG DBX3651R cooker hood and the carbon filters you need:
✅ Model Confirmation
The DBX3651R is a valid AEG model — it's part of their 5000 ExtractionTech range. If you're having trouble locating the model number, it's usually printed on a white label inside the hood, often near the filters or motor.
🧩 Carbon Filter Compatibility
Your cooker hood supports recirculation mode, which requires carbon filters to clean the air before it's recirculated. These filters do not come pre-installed and are typically sold separately.
You have two main options:
1. Genuine AEG Carbon Filter
Part Number: 4055550331
Price: £131.25 (currently discounted from £175)
Buy from: AEG Official Shop
2. Compatible Universal Filter Kits
If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option:
eSpares offers cut-to-size universal kits compatible with DBX3651R:

Cooker Hood Filters UK also offers compatible carbon filters like the ECFB03 (2 Pack) for £18.95:

🛠️ Installation Tip
If your hood is set up for ducted extraction, carbon filters aren’t needed. But if you're using recirculation mode, they’re essential. You can switch modes by installing a recirculation kit, which includes the carbon filters.
It sounds frustrating to have grease spots appear so quickly on your new AEG DBX3651R cooker hood. Here’s how you can tackle the issue and prevent it from recurring:
✅ Cleaning the Grease Spots
Turn Off and Unplug the Hood
Always start by switching off the power to avoid any electrical hazards.
Use a Mild Detergent and Soft Cloth
Mix warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap.
Dampen a soft cloth or microfiber towel and gently wipe the surface.
For stubborn spots, let the damp cloth sit on the area for a few minutes before wiping again.
Stainless Steel Finish Care
If your hood has a stainless steel finish, use a stainless steel cleaner.
Wipe in the direction of the grain to avoid streaks and scratches.
Avoid Harsh Products
Do not use abrasive sponges, steel wool, bleach, or ammonia-based cleaners—they can damage the surface.
Degreaser Option (If Needed)
For tough grease, use a commercial degreaser or a homemade mix of vinegar and baking soda.
Spray it on the spot, let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then wipe with a sponge or microfiber cloth.
🧼 Preventing Future Build-Up
Clean Weekly: Regular cleaning prevents grease from hardening and becoming difficult to remove.
Filter Maintenance: Clean the metal grease filters every 8–10 weeks. You can soak them in hot water with dish soap and baking soda, or run them through the dishwasher if they’re dishwasher-safe.
