A solid, sturdy fan that cools
A relatively powerful fan for its size, particularly on the highest setting, which can get a good airflow through the room. On this setting, it's obviously noisier, but to be honest, as long as it cools me I can live with that. I place it on the window sill if an open window at night, where it effectively creates a through draft from one side of the house, across two rooms and a landing, out through the opposite side of the house - this moves the stagnant hot air that collects during the day and cools the upstairs at night. The sleep function is much quieter, and although not silent, is easy to sleep to as background white noise. There is no oscillation function at all, but there is a wide vertical tilt angle, including being able to point directly upwards, which seems to be quite effective. It takes some getting used to because although the foot print is no bigger than a similar sized desktop fan, it does feel bigger because of the shape - an optical illusion, I think. I like that it feels sturdy and doesn't topple over. The large handle makes it very easy to carry.

Good fan, works well, quiet
Good fan, very quiet, has 3 settings, and has a surround cooling affect. Works well for a smallish fan. Head swivels up and down but not sideways. Handle very useful to transport from room to room.

Brilliant fan!
Best £45 I’ve spent in these heatwaves. Bit of a panic purchase in recent heat but so glad I got it. Love the handle on top which makes it easy to carry from room to room. Good looking compared to my old fashioned column ones and this will be much easier to store too. Nice and quiet, even my fussy 9 year daughter says it’s ok to sleep with. It doesn’t oscillate but I’ve not found that to be an issue personally. Genuinely love this thing and it’s been a lifesaver recently

Excellent value and effective in this hot weather
Great airflow and easy controls. Only three speeds, but this is a budget air circulator, so not expecting too much. There is no oscillation, but this is a plus point, I can angle the fan in exactly the right position for maximum circulation. Airflow is impressive for such a compact unit, and it’s so easy to carry, weighs almost nothing. I have a large collection of Meaco fans, this one compares well.

Great Efficient Fan
Excellent Product Quiet and efficient with great airflow, can tilt to the desired optimal angle, no oscillation, only consumes 24w electricity so economic to run, has a great run timer, 3 fan modes and a night mode thats very quiet so its not a disturbance its not cheap to purchase but well made by Philips so quality is excellent, very pleased.

Great Fan (that doesn't oscillate)
So I went into buying this fan knowing it doesn't oscillate and I am very happy with my purchase. On night mode it is quite quiet. Those sensitive to noises when they sleep may not appreciate it though. The fastest speed is very powerful and the tilt function is great. Again I went into buying this fan knowing it was bulky but I don't mind that. The touch functions are great and in the middle of the night you just gotta find a button any button then it lights up so you can switch function or speed. I do love that the light switches off as I have my windows open and dont want any pesky bugs attracted to light.

Stylish and effective!
Purchased after the second heatwave and now in use morning and night to cope with extreme heat. Very easy to move from living room to bedroom and the design is very sturdy. Quiet to use for nighttime too.

Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Dee,
The supplier has advised the following for the Philips 2000 Series White & Grey Desk Fan - 8 Inch:
"The Philips 2000 Series CX2050/00 White & Grey Desk Fan has a power consumption of 24 W during operation, with a standby power consumption of less than 1 W
This means it is a low-energy fan, especially for a table or desk model, and its standby mode draws minimal power when not in use. The low wattage, combined with its quiet operation (as low as 23 dB(A)), makes it energy‑efficient for both cooling and long‑term use."
Thank you for using Q&A.

I also purchased this fan - based on the description that it is an oscilating fan but it in fact does not oscilate. I bought it a year or so ago - and still see the description says it oscilates but i can tell you it does not.
I agree with the OP, the 2000 series fan does not have the oscillating function. The QR code on the enclosed paperwork takes you to a link for the 3000 series which does oscillate. Argos you need to update your product information for this item.
