Wish I'd had one earlier
Not put it into position yet but tested it with wetted finger and it alarmed fine. Sensors top and bottom so if you can be specific about location of leak you can put directly underneath. Does need liquid water though, damp plaster not enough

Tapo Leak Detector
I bought this detector to install in a drip tray under my boiler that is in the loft, after having to leaks over recent years. It seems to be ideal for this application and the fact it is linked to your mobile for alerts. This gives me peace of mind that if I have another leak I can shut the system down before the leak gets to bad and water drips through the ceiling doing more damage. Small and battery operated.

Does the Job!
Placed alongside the main water tank in the loft in case of a leak. It works through wifi and alerts through an app on my phone, which is linked to a plug-in mini-hub. Very easy to set up and tested to ensure it works.

Works as intended.
After having a leak under the bath we decided to get one of these sensors so we notice it when its happening, rather than days/weeks later as the water starts to run down into the floor below. The sensor takes seconds to setupmon the app and is then ready to go, I've tested it to make sure we recognised the sound it makes if it does trigger and its an audible alarm which is obvious but not crazy loud. Overall should mpdo what we want it to do, ideal solution for hidden pipework like behind a bath panel!

Bought this water leak sensor after having a leak at the water tank and have tested it by placing in a dish of water and it worked with no issue

Hi,
To turn on the camera alarm manually, go to the Tapo app Home page > tap the camera card to enter the Live View page > tap the Alarm button to activate it.

Hi,
There is no option to permanently disable the built-in alarm on the T300. The alarm is designed to sound automatically whenever a water leak is detected, and the only supported ways to stop it are:
1. On the sensor: Press the control button once to stop the alarm.
2. In the Tapo app: Tap the alert banner to stop it.

It works in an Operating Temperature 0~40ºC / 32~104ºF and an Operating Humidity of 0%~99%RH.
Its got an IP67 Waterproof Rating. IP67 waterproofing protects from wet and dusty environments.
It's not really designed as a rain detector though. It'll detect the presence of water but it's not really intended to provide weather data. It's for thing like leaks.

Ignore the Argos rep, they dont know how to fully do their research.
The Tapo App and Samsung Smartthings App can talk to each other. You need both apps, but once set up and linked, anything that uses the Tapo App can be used, monitored or controlled in the Smartthings app.

I have just got back home from Argos to pick up the Tapo T300 smart water leak sensor, to also realise I need the Tapo H100 smart hub to utilise the notification to my phone in the event of a burst pipe or leak, other than these Q and A, there is STILL no advice within the product description regarding the need to buy the hub, the above questions are from last August, 6 months ago and still no update, not good enough Argos !!!

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the TP-Link Tapo T300 Smart Water Leak Sensor: ''This water leak sensor must be used with the Tapo Hub. The Tapo H100 and Tapo H200 are both compatible with it.''

You need the hub for this to work. The Argos description of the water leak detector is very misleading and should be addressed.
