Braun Silk-épil 5 is effective at removing even short hairs, offers wet/dry use, and has useful attachments. Pain varies by user but often decreases with use. Lightweight and easy to handle, though charging plug and cleaning can be inconvenient.

A little discomfort for a lot of convenience!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'd always wanted to try an epilator but was always a bit wary of spending the money without knowing how well they work...and my comfort level tbh 🫢 I was so happy to get the opportunity to review one for influenster, so I hope my review can be of use. I am especially interested in the whole not having to shave for several weeks as I'm so extremely lazy (as you can tell!) 😅 and feel this could be great to use prior to going in to hospital (which I will be in the next few weeks!) or holidays etc. I used it only on dry skin, apparently using it on damp - e.g in the shower is supposed to help with any discomfort - however I am yet to try this method out. I found the discomfort comparable to either laser hair removal or tattooing, however as you can tell from my photos I am very used to the latter 😂. I found it certainly tolerable but I'd still recommend doing it in sections to save over irritating the skin in one session...just from my experience anyway. I definitely recommend if you do have a reasonable pain tolerance and are a bit ADHD regarding actual repeated shaving, I'd much rather use this device as opposed to shaving several times in the same time span. Also the little light is immensely useful! Thank you!

Works
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] About seven years ago, I lasered all of my hair , but as you know with laser there are still some hair remaining even after 10 or 12 sessions. Getting a wax every month seems too much, so I tend to resort to epilators. I can do it at home, whenever I want, it’s cheaper and lasts long enough. This little guys is nice. It has loads of attachments, but I think this smooth one works best, on all body parts from underarms to legs. It also has 2 speed/power setting. I think the first one is better, as the second one a bit too fast, and might break the hair instead of pulling it out. Pain-wise, regular exfoliation and using it at the end of a shower routine works best for me and makes almost painless (but this also depends on where you are in your cycle) A really annoying thing though, is the charger. It’s European, so you need to have an adapter if you are in the UK.

EPILATOR DID NOT WORK FOR ME!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say was very anxious before, I used this product. Packaging was lovely and design very girlie, however I had not shaved for four weeks leaving ample hair to be taken but unfortunately it did not take much hair out and the pain did not register . I tried both heads, I have fair fine hair and this maybe why the braun epilator did not work too well. It was very quiet when using the epillator, but unfortunately did not work for me, maybe if I had darker thicker hair this product would work better

Fantastic device
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow this is fantastic, it can be used to remove even the shortest hairs from the root. It has a massage roller cap which provides a much gentler experience. There is also a skin contact cap for a closer epilation for those shorter hairspray. This can be used wet or dry, i prefer using it when my skin is wet as it feels more gentle. I love that it also has a shaver and trimmer attachment for sensitive areas. All in all the best epilator I have tried.

Disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been dying to try an epilator for ages so I was really hoping to love this Braun Silk Epil 5. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. But before I get into that, I want to talk a little about the device itself. It's lightweight, easy to hold and comes with different heads for different hair removal needs. I have only tried 2, as my hair is never long enough to need the others. It also comes with a brush for cleaning out hairs and a drawstring pouch to keep everything in. It doesn't take long to charge and each charge lasts about 2 hours. I like that it has a light so you can see the area you're working on and that light turns orange when the power is low. Now for the results... I let my hair grow out for a few days, to the length recommended on the instructions and prepped my skin by exfoliating and washing. The device is designed to work on wet or dry skin, and I have tried both over the past month. I didn't expect it to be so painful but it was. I am not usually one to cringe from pain (I have several large tattoos) but it was extremely uncomfortable. I found it more tolerance when my skin was wet and the pain definitely eased the more I did it, but it was uncomfortable and left my skin red and angry looking. Despite following the instructions and watching dozens of tutorials for the best reaults, I still ended up with blotchy skin and a few ingrown hairs, which is not the look I was going for. My skin also felt so dried out after using rhe device so I found myself slathering on moisturiser a few times a day. Did it remove my hairs? Yes, but not as many as I would have liked. I could see them being pulled from the roots, but there were so many the device missed. Due to the rigid shape, it's also hard to do your ankles, knees and elbows effectively. I also struggled with my underarms and found it missed a lot. The shaver head did nothing for me at all. The upside? It has made the hair slower to come back, which means I don't need to be as rigid about shaving everyday. But I still feel I need to shave in addition to epilating to get the smooth results I'm after. Overall, I am pretty disappointed with the product.

Overall an average and decent product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not worth the hype and packaging. The machine is a bit noisy for my liking. Its light weight and comfortable but takes a lot of time to and fro to clean so coverage is a bit of an issue.

Once I got used to it, I now enjoy using it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always wanted to try one as it was getting frustrating with razors and creams. I found it took a bit of getting used to the pressure and angle when using it on my legs. I also found that it was harder with longer hair, so the second time of using it, my leg hair was removed easier as it was shorter. It took a bit of getting used to the feeling of the hairs getting removed but got used to it, and now it's not an issue. I also noticed that the hair didn't come back as quickly, which shows its working and great that ive got an eplilatpr to use. The option of being able to change the heads is helpful and useful. The fact you can use it in a bath or shower helps. It's easy to hold and not that chunky or heavy. It charges easily and lasts a long time, which is great.

Great little machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Braun Silk epil 5 is a compact epilator that comes with 4 accessories. I really like that you don't use the lead to use it as it allows you to be able to use it where you want. It is quick to charge too (about an hour) and you know it is fully charged when the light stops flashing. Compared to my previous epilator, I have found the silk epil 5 to be quite painless - of course you do feel a little tingling but I don't find it painful. It is also really handy to be able to use it wet or dry, and the shaver head cap is also very useful. I like to use this on more sensitive areas such as my underarms. It also comes with a little white bag so you can easily take it with you on your travels and keep all the bits together. Definitely a winner for me.

Painful but tolerable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The device comes with both shaver and epilator heads, though beginners should be warned that the ‘multi tweezer’ sensation can be quite painful until you are adjusted. I’ve seen reduction in regrowth in my armpit area. I do a session once a week. I highly recommend trimming longer hair first to make the process much more tolerable. The included brush is useful at keeping the device hygienic and hair-free after use.

Looks ok but doesn’t work as it say
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t very impressed with this product didn’t Leave my Legs smooth like it said not easy to use as hard to hold as vibration make loose grip so couldn’t take pic for review I will def not be telling anyone to get one of these, I didn’t Like the epilator head as this is uncomfortable to use hurts more than waxing and still Doesn’t leave smooth have to go over legs to many times So take forever so not a quick use
