Good Telescope- not the best for children
I have used this telescope a number of times now. Positives - Easy to use/focus Good images Easy to set up Easy to transport/fold away Negatives - Stand extremely flimsy- very difficult to keep in one place when in focus. The slightest movement or gust of wind causes the telescope to move and you have to start again. This makes astrophotography nigh on impossible.

Waste of money
So cheaply made, won’t focus on anything, to much play in the joins. Took back and go a refund. Paid £160 for it and personally I don’t think it’s worth more than £30.

Bought on a whim recently

Celestron 114AZ
I got the telescope for my girlfriend, she and I are very happy with it. Great quality 10/10

A very average telescope
If you can try and see if you can find any other better telescope as this one just seems to be everywhere when trying to focus on an object and thanks to the great British wether I have only had a chance to look at the moon so far and my Olympus 50X binoculars performs better than this telescope. And the Barlow lense that it comes with is absolutely useless.

Don't buy
I bought this on a Saturday, took it back two days later. It was easy to set up, but the quality of the optics are poor. Image is Hazy. Read reviews on a telescope review website after I bought it. The reviews said stay clear.

Hello Anonymous,
From the information we have available, I can advise you can see Saturn's rings with the Celestron 114AZ Newtonian Telescope. This telescope is designed to provide clear and bright views of celestial objects, including the rings of Saturn.
Thank you for using Q&A
The maximum USEABLE magnification of any telescope is equal to double the aperture size in mm so this one will be 228 time magnification. It is possible to magnify more but the results will be blurred and unusable.
Hello Elmers,
The supplier has advised the following for the Celestron 114AZ Newtonian Telescope:
“ Using the 4mm eyepiece (250x) along with the 3x magnification Barlow lens included in this package, the maximum magnification is 750x. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.

Kind regards
Hello Fritz,
Providing that there isn't a large amount of light, you will be able to see closer objects with the Celestron 114AZ Newtonian Telescope however further away you won't as there will be too much light for you to see correctly.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
No, this doesn't have the facility to add a camera or phone for pictures.
I hope this helps. :)
For people interested in this scope - PLEASE IGNORE THE COMMENTS BY - FREAK OF NATURE- I can guarantee you wil be astounded by what you can see Through a 4 and a half inch telescope, you can literally watch the gallilean moons as they orbit Jupiter, yes they are small specks of light but this is still phenomenal to watch as are the rings around Saturn. The sheer amazement you experience just by looking at the moon for the first time is truly out of this world. Look up moon terminator astronomy
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised: Jupiter: Colour bands and the four Galilean Moons.
Mars: The red colour, the dark surface mares and ice caps.
Saturn: The rings and the largest Moon, Titan.
What can be seen will depend on the time of year, and Earth’s atmospheric seeing conditions. The free Celestron SkyPortal app on iOS and Android can advise on what objects can be seen and when from the users exact location.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for using Q&A.
I had a 130 one of these and the texture isnt that great you would need a telescope with a 10 to 14 inch mirror this one is just for the kids or a very basic beginner
The aperture is 114mm which means that the maximum USEABLE magnification will be 228 times. Full details are not shown here but you can see them on Amazon or Google.
Given that the actual telescope dimensions are not given by Argos, looks like packaging dimensions only, I can only guesstimate it is around an F11 or F12.
You need to know the metric length of the tube and width of its reflector mirror to find the exact F-stop.
Hi Farid,
Thanks for your question.
This has an aperture of 114mm (4.5").
I hope this helps. :)
Hi Sally,
I have looked into this for you and can confirm the Explorascope 114 can view the planets, moon, star clusters and brighter deep sky objects like the Orion Nebula and Andromeda Galaxy.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi,
I have checked on this and I can confirm this telescope does not come with a solar filter.
I hope this helps
