After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Johnstone's Quick Dry Satin Paint 1.25L - Brilliant White:

As long as the surface of the bed frame is paintable and wood, with the Quick dry primer also used, generally yes. However, not knowing all the facts it would be hard to give a definite answer.

The supplier has advised the following for the Johnstone's Quick Dry Satin Paint 1.25L - Brilliant White:

“ There are 2 reasons why this product would not be suitable.

Because of the pre finish coating or finish to a product, this kind of product isn’t designed to be repainted. The coating would struggle to adhere to the previous surface.

The heat will also be an issue. This product isn’t suitable for this kind of temperature. The heat coupled with the lack of adhesion would cause the paint to fail quite quickly. ”

The Johnstone's Quick Dry Satin Paint 1.25L - Brilliant White is suitable for interior wood and metal including skirting boards, doors and staircases. We do not recommend using the paint for kitchen cupboards or for bathroom use.

Thanks for your query about the Johnstone's Quick Dry Satin Paint 1.25L - Brilliant White.

Having checked to see, this is a paint rather than a varnish and will cover up the finish of the wood so it'd just make the wood look white. You might perhaps be able to put on a thin coat and see some grain through it though but it'd depend on how you applied it.

If you specifically need a varnish so as to be able to see the colour and grain of the wood, even if the varnish has a colour/stain to it, we'd advise that purchase a varnish instead. Also, for many varnishes, the wood grain will absorb it differently to how it would work with paints which more usually tend to just be a layer on the top of it. It'd depend on what you were wishing to achieve with the coating you were wanting to apply.
